Nurturing Active Minds, Healthy Bodies, and Happy Hearts

Health & Safety
Kindergarten is the last year we have with your child before the wider world gets them. We take that seriously. At Primrose Burlington, our health and safety practices at this level aren’t just about keeping children safe, they’re about teaching children to keep themselves safe.
- Illness policy with no exceptions: Any child or staff member with a fever goes home and stays home until fever-free for at least 24 hours. No gray areas. Children at this age understand why, and we make sure they do.
- Handwashing they own completely: By Kindergarten, handwashing is a habit children have built over years with us, before meals, after outdoor time, after bathroom visits. They don’t need a reminder. They just do it.
- Illness awareness as a life skill: We teach Kindergartners to recognize how their own body feels when something is off, and to tell a trusted adult. That’s a skill that follows them into elementary school and beyond.
- Ratios that allow real mentorship: Our classroom ratios give teachers the space to have real conversations with children about their health, their choices, and their growing responsibility for both.
- CPR and first aid certified, every teacher: Every staff member holds current infant and child CPR and first aid certification. All of them, not just some.
- A Safe School Plan in every classroom: Our customized Safe School Plan, developed in partnership with Burlington Police Department, is posted in every room and trained on recurrently, so teachers and children alike know exactly what to do, every time.
