Health & Safety

Our school is committed to high standards of safety and cleanliness as we create a caring and nurturing environment where children can thrive.

Requiring any children or staff with respiratory illness symptoms or fever to return home and stay home until fever free for at least 24 hours
Frequent disinfecting and sanitizing of high-touch toys
Frequent handwashing by children and staff, which is embedded in our curriculum and daily staff protocols
Training teachers on common signs of illness in children, and placing signage in every classroom to keep signs of illness top of mind
Daily laundering of crib sheets for infants; for older children, individual cots and blankets are provided for each child and laundered weekly
Ensuring appropriate teacher-student classroom ratios
Continuous health & safety training for our staff, including first aid and CPR certification
Maintaining an up-to-date and customized Safe School Plan posted in all classrooms for easy teacher access

Meet Ms. Tavonta! 🌸

With over 10 years of experience working with children and a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, Ms. Tavonta brings a wealth of knowledge, dedication, and a genuine love for early childhood education to PrimWin!

Teaching is truly her passion, and she feels incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to nurture young minds, inspire curiosity, and be part of each child’s unique learning journey. Watching children grow, discover new things, and reach exciting milestones brings her so much joy! I love creating fun meaningful experiences that make the children excited to learn while making sure they feel loved, supported, and valued.

Pre-K Room

Pre-Kindergarten (4–5 Years) Our Pre-Kindergarten Program is designed to ensure every child enters kindergarten with the confidence, knowledge, and skills needed for lifelong success. At Primrose School of Winfield, we believe every child learns differently, which is why we use Renaissance Star Early Literacy® assessments to identify each student's strengths and areas for growth. Assessment data drives our small-group, differentiated instruction, allowing our teachers to meet children where they are academically and intentionally move them forward. Whether a child is building foundational skills or ready for advanced challenges, instruction is personalized to maximize growth and prepare them for kindergarten success. Our commitment to data-informed instruction produces exceptional results. In 2026, our Pre-K students earned an average Star Early Literacy Grade Equivalent (GE) score of 1.7. This means the average student performed at a level comparable to a student in the seventh month of first grade on the same assessment—a reflection of the high expectations, intentional instruction, and individualized support found in our classrooms. In addition to strong literacy and math instruction, children participate in STEM investigations, creative arts, music, physical development, and social-emotional learning. Through leadership opportunities, project-based learning, and purposeful play, students develop the executive functioning, problem-solving, and collaboration skills that prepare them not only for kindergarten—but for a lifetime of learning. Inspired by the story Froggy Gets Dressed, our young learners worked together to practice counting, number recognition, sorting, and vocabulary development while building important social skills. Through our exclusive Balanced Learning® curriculum, we intentionally nurture the 4 Cs: Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Creativity. This activity highlights Collaboration as children learn to work alongside one another, share ideas, listen to different perspectives, and celebrate learning together. Little Builders, Big Thinkers!

At Primrose School of Winfield, math comes to life through hands-on exploration! Our young mathematicians became little architects as they built and measured their town buildings using blocks, rulers, and other fun classroom materials! Along the way, they practiced counting, recorded their findings in their Math Journals, and compared which buildings were taller, shorter, or longer. Working alongside their classmates, they strengthened their problem-solving skills, explored mathematical concepts, and learned to think creatively. The 4 C's of Balanced Learning®: Critical Thinking Through purposeful play and hands-on discovery, our students develop critical thinking skills as they ask questions, make predictions, test ideas, and find solutions.
