Katy is the Director of the Primrose School of Southwest Austin. Katy graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas State with a Bachelors Degree in Education and Teaching Certificate. Katy has been with Primrose since the first academic school year at the Primrose School of Shady Hollow in 2006. She started out as a preschool teacher at the Primrose School of Shady Hollow. The following year, Katy moved to the Kindergarten classroom where she stayed for the next five years. Katy truly loved her job teaching little ones to read and write, add, and subtract. The summer of 2012, Katy was promoted to the director position at the Primrose School of Southwest Austin. She is from Austin, Tx and she loves to spend time with boys Brandon and Kaleb, and husband Brian. Katy really loves to read, and is constantly downloading new books to her Kindle. Her favorite children’s book is Goodnight Moon. Katy relates to the Primrose friend, Og the Bookworm, the most because of her love of reading!

Felicia is the Assistant Director at the Primrose School of Southwest Austin. She began her career with children in 2007 with another private preschool. In 2010, Felicia moved to the Primrose School of Shady Hollow and then to the Primrose School of Southwest Austin in 2012. Here, she has taught multiple classrooms and eventually settled as the assistant director in 2017. Felicia has her Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Science and is originally from Sugar Land, Tx. She loves to spend her weekends with family and friends hanging out outdoors. Felicia’s favorite children’s book is Oh the Places You Will Go. She most relates to the Primrose friend, Erwin the Dog, because she loves to celebrate her friends!

Curriculum Director

Karina is the Curriculum Director of Primrose School of Southwest Austin.  Karina graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education and a Master of Arts in Education.  Karina started with Primrose in 2021 as a preschool teacher and moved into pre-kindergarten the following year.  Karina adored her students and enjoyed building trusting relationships with their families.  In June of 2023, Karina was promoted to Curriculum Director, where she could make an impact on the teachers and staff.  She loves spending time with her daughter, Layla, in her spare time.  Karina has played flute and piccolo for over twenty years and is part of a community wind ensemble.

Chef Colby was born in Belton, TX, but has lived in Austin for several years. He enjoys visiting his family back home and hanging out with his best friend on the weekends.  Chef Colby enjoys trying out different restaurants; his favorite cuisine is Korean.  Colby also has an associate’s degree in culinary arts and years of restaurant experience.  His favorite children’s book is Frog and Toad and relates to the Primrose friend Peanut the Pony because honesty is one of the best qualities a person can have.

Ms. Liziel is originally from the Philippines, but has lived in Texas for over ten years.  She is new to Austin and Primrose, but loves the natural aspect that this city can bring.  Ms. Liziel enjoys cooking, spending time outdoors, and trying new restaurants with her son.  She comes to Primrose with years of experience and enjoys working with infants because they’re adorable and fascinating.  Ms. Liziel has a natural ability to nurture and care for infants, which is a fitting addition to our school.  Her favorite children’s book is I Love You To The Moon and Back, and she is most like our Primrose friend Mia, because Ms. Liziel loves being outdoors.

Ms. Alex is originally from Florida, and she moved to Austin in 2026.  She comes to Primrose with experience in childcare, having been a nanny for a family for over 3 years.  Ms. Alex came to Primrose because she recognized the brand as a leading brand in the childcare industry and wanted to be a part of a center that she could trust.  In her spare time, she enjoys resting in the comfort of her own home, listening to podcasts, and taking care of her four-year-old nephew.  Ms. Alex takes pride in helping her autistic nephew grow and learn.  Her favorite children’s book is Junie B. Jones and she relates to the Primrose friend, Molly the Cow, because she enjoys teaching infants to always have respect for others and creates a sense of belongingness.

Ms. Katia is originally from Central America, but has lived most of her life in Austin, TX.  Her childcare experience has primarily been at the UT Child Development Center, but she recently joined Primrose.  Ms. Katia chose Primrose because she wanted to work specifically with infants.  She enjoys nurturing infants because she believes every moment counts.  Their development is crucial in the first few years of life, and she wants to care for and nurture them during the first year.  Also, baby smiles are everything! After her time with Primrose, Ms. Katia is pursuing her Master’s degree in Belgium. In her spare time, she enjoys painting, researching anything and everything, and traveling to create new experiences. Her favorite children’s book is The Little Prince, and she relates to our Primrose friend, Benjamin the Bear, because she exudes generosity and kindness with the infants, giving without expecting anything in return.

Ms. Abbi previously lived in Belton, TX, and is new to the Austin area.  She enjoys coloring, reading fantasy novels, and playing video games in her spare time.  Primrose is Ms. Abbi’s first childcare job, and she is excited to learn all about infants and their development.  She wanted to work with children because she loves watching them grow, learn, and experience new environments.  Ms. Abbi works with older infants and is excited to continue learning about their growth and development.  Her favorite children’s book is One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, and she relates to our Primrose friend, Og, the bookworm, because she loves to read and care for others.

Ms. Mendy grew up in Austin, but currently lives in San Marcos with her husband, children, and her pets.  Ms. Mendy enjoys going for walks in parks and around lakes, binge-watching her favorite show, Golden Girls, and spending time with her family.  Ms. Mendy loves working with children, specifically infants, because she likes to be a part of their big milestones, like walking, crawling, and babbling.  She chose Primrose because of the detailed support and structure it provides her and the children, which builds on consistency and routine.  Ms. Mendy’s favorite children’s books are the Pigeon series books, and she relates to our Primrose friend, Og, because caring for others makes the world a better place.

Ms. Lauren has grown up right here in Austin, TX, and loves it! She comes with years of experience and has found her way to us at Primrose.  Ms. Lauren enjoys the comfort Primrose offers and its culture.  She loves working with children, specifically infants, because they humor her and she enjoys watching them grow. In her spare time, she enjoys watching TV, sewing, reading historical fiction, and doesn’t mind binging Golden Girls episodes.  Ms. Lauren’s favorite children’s book is Goodnight Moon, and she relates to our Primrose friend, Katy the Cat, because she loves to cooperate with her fellow teachers and loves cats!

Ms. Haelee grew up in Austin, TX, but cannot wait to travel the world! She comes to Primrose with experience in childcare through coaching at her local gymnastics gym.  Ms. Haelee enjoys working at Primrose because of her love for her class and the children.  She specifically loves working with toddlers because she gets to cultivate, experience, and nurture their unique personalities.  In her spare time, Ms. Haelee likes to be active in gymnastics, go shopping, and go running around the town lake.  Her favorite children’s book is Pinkalicious, and she relates to our Primrose friend, Katy the Cat, because Ms. Haelee encourages cooperation with her fellow teachers and her students and teaches the importance of compromise.

Ms. Liyah has lived in Austin her whole life. She comes from a big family and has helped take care of nieces, nephews, and friends of the family for many years. On her spare time, she enjoys writing novels, reading, and listening to music. Ms. Liyah feels that Primrose is a great place to work because it is a family oriented school and a great fit for her. She loves kids this age because they keep her on her toes and she feels fulfilled when she am around them.  Ms. Liyah enjoys reading If You Give A Mouse A Cookie to the children and relates to Libby the Lamb because she believes everyone deserves to be treated fairly.

Ms. Emma is originally from Denton, TX and currently holds a Bachelor degree in Biology. She has always enjoyed being around children and caring for them. It excites her to teach new things. Primrose’s approach to teaching children and supporting families is exactly what Ms. Emma is looking for in a school environment. On her spare time, she enjoys going to the park and just being outdoors. Ms. Emma’s favorite children’s book is The Little Prince and relates to Og the Bookworm because she has a life long love for reading!

Ms. Sulay is from Harker Heights, TX, but now lives in Austin.  She enjoys gardening, cooking with fresh foods, drawing, painting, and singing.  Ms. Sulay has enjoyed working at Primrose because it is a different approach but provides structure and curriculum for children.  She feels building confidence and kindness in children is a great starting foundation.  Ms. Sulay’s childcare experience comes from caring for her nieces and nephews.  Her favorite children’s book is Stellaluna and relates to Peanut, the Pony because honesty is the best policy.

Ms. Elena lives just outside of Bastrop, TX and this will be her very first year teaching. Since Primrose represents community, family, and inclusion, she is so excited to start her teaching journey here. Ms. Elena enjoys exploring new places in Bastrop and Austin with her son. She also enjoys putting puzzles and Legos together. Ms. Elena feels children can see the world in such a beautiful way, and she wants to share this experience with them.  Her favorite children’s book is One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and she most relates to Benjamin the Bear and Megy the Pig because she loves to recycle and compost for her garden.

Ms. Makayla grew up just north of Austin in Round Rock, TX. She enjoys taking her dog on walks and trying new foods around Austin in her spare time.  Ms. Makayla joined Primrose as her first big journey into child care and enjoys working with 2-year-olds because she gets to watch them grow and develop their personalities.  Ms. Makayla’s favorite children’s book is Click, Clack, Moo and she relates to our Primrose friend, Molly the Cow, because she represents kindness to yourself and others.

Ms. KeiAaisha started with us over the summer, and is excited to learn from this experience.  She is originally from San Antonio, but has lived in Austin for three years.  Ms. KeiAaisha comes with previous experience from the childcare center on the UT campus and has enjoyed working with young children for over two years.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading sci-fi books and watching movies.  Ms. KeiAaisha has enjoyed her time working here and working with two to three-year-olds because of their witty personalities and their honesty.  Children this age continuously keep her entertained and intrigued.  Ms. KeiAaisha relates to Og the Bookworm because she enjoys reading and her favorite children’s book is The Lorax.

Ms. Alondra is originally from west Texas, but has lived in Austin for 10 years.  Ms. Alondra has experience working with children through teaching art and babysitting.  She chose to use her experience at Primrose because she saw an opportunity to best utilize her childcare experience and skills in a place where children are acknowledged and celebrated.  In her spare time, she enjoys learning new languages, playing piano, drawing, and hanging out with her family and friends.  Ms. Alondra also enjoys volunteering her time on the weekends at her local Kingdom Hall.  She relates closely to the Primrose friend, Og the Bookworm because she cares for others and wants to make the world a better place to live in.  Her favorite children’s author is Mark Twain.

Ms. Claire is originally from San Angelo, but has lived in Austin for a little over a year.  She enjoys the diversity of the city and has made some great relationships with new friends.  In her spare time, she likes to go walking, relax, and crochet.  Ms. Claire has enjoyed working at Primrose because she enjoys caring for little ones and helping them to become better people for their future community.  Currently, Ms. Claire works with all ages, but her favorite is four to five-year-olds because she is able to build relationships through better communication and grow friendly bonds.  Her favorite children’s book is Are You My Mother, and she relates to the Primrose friend, Erwin the Dog, because she holds friendships near to her heart.

Chris and Shannan Rolfsen

The Rolfsen family welcomes you to the Primrose School of Southwest Austin.

Chris Rolfsen comes from a 15 year career with Motorola/Freescale and Shannan Rolfsen joins the school from a 12 year career with non-profits including Make-A-Wish and the American Cancer Society.

After having their son, Callen, Chris and Shannan were so impressed by the quality of education delivered by Primrose, they purchased the Primrose School of Round Rock.
