Our Before & After School Care
Our Explorer program is designed to nurture Active Minds, Healthy Bodies, and Happy Hearts® in children starting at five years old. Your child can relax, make friends, get homework help and continue to learn while having fun as they explore creative expression, sports, technology, drama, music, games and more.
Nurturing Active Minds, Healthy Bodies, and Happy Hearts

Health & Safety
Our school is committed to high standards of safety and cleanliness as we create a caring and nurturing environment where children can thrive.
- Requiring any children or staff with respiratory illness symptoms or fever to return home and stay home until fever free for at least 24 hours
- Frequent disinfecting and sanitizing of high-touch toys
- Frequent handwashing by children and staff, which is embedded in our curriculum and daily staff protocols
- Training teachers on common signs of illness in children, and placing signage in every classroom to keep signs of illness top of mind
- Daily laundering of crib sheets for infants; for older children, individual cots and blankets are provided for each child and laundered weekly
- Ensuring appropriate teacher-student classroom ratios
- Continuous health & safety training for our staff, including first aid and CPR certification
- Maintaining an up-to-date and customized Safe School Plan posted in all classrooms for easy teacher access
- Dual layer security to enter the school, video monitor that allows us to go into lock down during core part of the day. Two layers of security to pass through before getting into the school.

Ms. Katy Steele
Hi, I’m Ms. Steele!
I’m excited to tell you a little about myself! I was born in Frankfurt, Germany, grew up in Oklahoma, and have called the Olathe area home since 1983. I now live in Spring Hill, Kansas.
I come from a large family with three brothers and five sisters, and family continues to be one of the most important parts of my life. I have five children, fourteen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren who bring me endless joy.
I’ve dedicated more than 50 years to early childhood education, serving as an Assistant Teacher, Teacher, Assistant Director, and Director throughout my career. Caring for and teaching young children has truly been my life’s passion. There is nothing more rewarding than watching children learn, grow, gain confidence, and sharing in those special hugs along the way.
I am honored to be part of your child’s learning journey at Primrose School of North Olathe and look forward to partnering with your family!
