Director

Hello! My name is Veva Carter, and I’m proud to serve as the Director of Primrose School of Yorktown.

With a background in childcare and experience as both a general education and special education teacher, I’ve had the joy of supporting children at many stages of their development. These experiences have shaped my passion for creating nurturing, high-quality learning environments where every child can thrive.

As a wife and mother, I understand the trust families place in us, and I’m dedicated to building strong partnerships with our school community. I look forward to welcoming your family and working together to provide an enriching, joyful start to your child’s educational journey.

Education Coach

Hello! My name is Niami Lowery and I am excited to be a part of the Primrose community as Education Coach at Primrose School of Yorktown.

Originally from England, I have been fortunate to have plenty of experience teaching internationally in Europe, Asia, and now the U.S. With a background in education and ESL, I have worked with a diverse group of teachers, families, and students ranging from PreK-6th grade, while playing an important role in curriculum implementation, assessment, classroom management strategies, and mentoring.

I am truly committed to supporting and guiding our teachers in creating a learning environment where children are encouraged to be curious, creative, confident, and compassionate.

I can’t wait to meet and learn more about and your family!

I have been in Early Childhood Education for 10 years, and throughout that time I’ve found great fulfillment in helping create meaningful and enriching experiences for young learners. Supporting children as they grow, explore, and discover is truly one of the most rewarding aspects of my work. I’m also deeply committed to building strong relationships with families and find that to be my favorite part!
As a mom of 2 daughters, I understand first hand how important it is to feel confident that your child is receiving attentive, high-quality care, and I look forward to being part of that support system. My youngest daughter, Lennon will be joining the Primrose family also in the infant program!
I have a strong appreciation for organization and attention to detail, and I genuinely love being given tasks and staying busy. Fun fact: When I was in middle school, classmates actually paid me to organize their binders and lockers—staying organized has always been my thing! Caligraphy, banner painting and sign making are also some side hobbies of mine!

Amber Lempke

Welcome to our Primrose School!

My name is Amber Lempke and I am the proud owner of the Primrose School of Yorktown.

As parents, my husband Michael and I understand how difficult it can be to find both a safe and educational environment that would provide the exceptional level of care we expect for our most precious gifts. I am beyond excited to be a part of the Primrose family and to share this amazing school with the Yorktown and surrounding Hampton Roads communities.  As our children were growing up, we struggled to find quality childcare for them as we moved to new locations, which ultimately led to us hiring live-in au pairs during their childhood to support our family.  We are also keenly aware that so many early childcare centers closed during the pandemic, and have not reopened, creating a significant deficit in childcare in Hampton Roads to support local families and our military community.  As we looked for ways to support the community and provide a quality resource to working parents, Primrose stood out from all the rest.  I immediately recognized the excellence incorporated into the curriculum, the focus on character development and the partnerships formed with parents.

Prior to becoming Primrose owners, Michael and I both served in the U.S. Navy, and went on to continue in service with the federal government in the Northern VA area.  My background is in human resources and talent management, having served previously as the Chief Human Capital Officer for the U.S. Census Bureau, and more recently working as the Chief Development Officer for a local defense contractor in Newport News.  We have lived in Yorktown since 2019, and our two children, Victoria, and Parker, currently attend Grafton High and Middle Schools.  As a family, we enjoy all that this small coastal and historical community has to offer.  Our goal is to provide an experience for the families in Yorktown and the surrounding cities that is unmatched in quality and enrichment, in order to make Yorktown an exceptional place to live and raise families.

We truly believe that what we do matters. Our philosophy is based on the Primrose simple, yet powerful phrase: “We believe who children become is as important as what they know”. Our exclusive early learning approach balances purposeful play with nurturing guidance from teachers to encourage curiosity, creativity, confidence, and compassion. We deliver more than a curriculum; it’s a life-changing early learning experience for children and their families. We are so excited to be opening our own Primrose School in order to give others this opportunity.

We welcome you to the Primrose School of Yorktown.
