Ms. Sheri Sasnett
School Director

Hello everyone!
My name is Sheri Sasnett and I am excited to join Primrose of East Mesa as the new Director. I bring 37 years of experience in early childhood education, including teaching and leadership roles, as well as the last two years working in special education.
Throughout my career, I have been committed to creating high-quality learning environments where children can thrive. One of my proudest accomplishments has been leading my last three programs through successful accreditations, reflecting my dedication to excellence in early childhood education.
I believe in building strong partnerships with families and supporting educators to provide the best possible experience for every child. I look forward to getting to know the children, families, and staff and becoming part of this wonderful community.

On a personal note, my husband and I are the proud parents of three amazing sons and three amazing daughters-in-law. We enjoy family dinners, watching sports, and spending time in nature. When I have free time, you’ll often find me reading a good book or working in my garden.
I look forward to meeting all of you and beginning this exciting new chapter together.
With gratitude and excitement,
Sheri Sasnett.

Ms. Ashley Valkanas
Assistant Director

My career in childcare began in 2010, and over the years, I’ve had the joy of teaching children ranging from ages 2 to 12. Before moving into leadership, I worked in Southern California, where I specialized in conducting orientations for new hires to help them kickstart their own journeys in education.

I joined the Primrose team in 2025 as a Support Teacher and quickly progressed to Education Coach before stepping into my current role as Assistant Director.

My favorite part of our Balanced Learning® approach is the Small Group time within our Venture Program. There’s something so rewarding about sitting down for individualized, differentiated instruction while the energetic “buzz” of centers fills the classroom.

The best part of Primrose School of East Mesa is undoubtedly our families. There is a genuine sense of community here, and I truly love being a part of the lives of the children and parents we serve every day!
