Franchise Owners
Diane and Darren Storkamp
Primrose School of Eagan is a family-owned preschool and childcare center led by Diane and Darren Storkamp since 2011. As Eagan parents ourselves since 2002, we know firsthand how much it matters to find a place where your child is genuinely known — not just by name, but by what makes them tick.
That conviction is why we brought the Cognia-accredited Balanced Learning® curriculum to Eagan, blending early academics, STEAM, social-emotional development, and character education under one roof. Families tell us their children arrive at kindergarten ahead of their peers. They also tell us their kids feel at home here — and that stability and consistency are things families notice when they find us.
Our school holds a Four-Star Parent Aware rating, a 95% parent recommendation rate, and over 160 verified five-star reviews from families across Eagan and Dakota County. Read what families are saying →

Frequently Asked Questions

What curriculum or educational philosophy do you follow?
Our school uses the proprietary Primrose Schools Balanced Learning® curriculum, which is research-informed and designed to nurture the whole child — intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically. We believe in balancing teacher-guided learning with purposeful play to build a strong foundation for the future.
How do you support school readiness and the transition to kindergarten?
All of our programs are designed in age-appropriate ways to prepare children for kindergarten and beyond. What are your hours of operation?
We are open Monday through Friday from 7:00 am-6:00 pm.
How do you keep parents informed about their child's day?
Connecting school to home is one of the ways we help children thrive. We use the Procare app to share daily updates and photos so you stay connected to your child’s joy, learning and special moments
How do you accommodate children with allergies or special medical needs?
Health and safety is our top priority, and we work closely with families to accommodate allergies and medical needs. We ask that parents provide detailed information during enrollment so we can create a safe plan for their child. All Primrose schools are nut-free facilities.

Is Primrose School of Eagan an accredited preschool?
Primrose School of Eagan holds Cognia accreditation and a Four-Star rating under Minnesota’s Parent Aware quality system — the highest rating available. We are fully licensed by the State of Minnesota. Both credentials require ongoing review and continuous improvement to maintain.
Is Primrose School of Eagan locally owned, and who leads the school day to day?
Primrose School of Eagan is locally owned by Diane and Darren Storkamp, who founded the school in 2011 and remain active in its daily operations. You will find them in the building regularly — not just behind the scenes. Day-to-day leadership is supported by an experienced onsite management team, including a director who has been with us since 2015. The teaching staff at the core of our school has built long careers here, and that continuity is something families notice quickly. In an industry where staff turnover is a genuine and common challenge, we have worked hard to build a school where experienced educators stay — and where that experience shows up in every classroom, every day.
How qualified are the teachers at Primrose School of Eagan?
Staff tenure is one of the things that sets Primrose School of Eagan apart. Many of our teachers have been here for years — some since the day we opened — and families notice. Teachers know children by name, by temperament, by what makes them tick. Lead teachers hold or are working toward a degree or credential in early childhood education or a related field, and we invest consistently in professional development.
What is the staff-to-child ratio at Primrose School of Eagan?
Minnesota’s licensed child care center requirements are among the most protective in the country:
- Infants: 1 teacher for every 4 children
- Toddlers: 1 teacher for every 7 children
- Preschool-age children: 1 teacher for every 10 children
These ratios are maintained in every classroom, at all times during the school day.
What ages does Primrose School of Eagan serve?
We serve children from six weeks through Pre-Kindergarten, with a classroom for every stage:
- Infant (6 weeks–1 year)
- Toddler (1–2 years)
- Early Preschool (2–3 years)
- Preschool Pathways (bridge classroom for older twos and young threes with late birthdays)
- Preschool (3–4 years)
- Pre-K (4–5 years)
- Private Kindergarten (select enrollment)
Our youngest classrooms — Infant through Preschool Pathways — are part of the Primrose Wonder Program. Children move through classrooms as they grow, with teachers who already know them.
What enrichment programs does Primrose School of Eagan offer?
Music, art, character development, and physical development are woven into every classroom day through our Balanced Learning® curriculum — not pulled out as separate events, but present in the rhythm of how children learn here.
- Conversational Spanish — In our Preschool through Kindergarten classrooms (the Primrose Venture Program), children learn Spanish words, phrases and sentences through Mucho Mundo®, included in tuition.
- Character Development — Our Happy Hearts® program uses storytelling, role-play, and the Primrose Friends puppets to teach kindness, responsibility, and empathy across every age group.
- Children’s Choice Learning Centers — In younger classrooms, children direct their own exploration, deciding what to engage with, how to use materials, and for how long.
- Outdoor Learning — Our age-specific playground areas and Primrose Patch garden extend the same spirit of curiosity into fresh air every day.
- Inquiry-Based Learning — In Preschool through Kindergarten classrooms, children move through a cycle of play, exploration, discussion, and demonstration that reflects how children actually build knowledge.
The Balanced Learning® curriculum is developed with the Primrose Early Learning Council, a panel of nationally recognized experts in early childhood education, and updated continuously as research evolves.
Does Primrose School of Eagan have an indoor play area?
Gross motor development is built into every day through our Thumbs Up!® physical development program — not limited to a designated space or scheduled gym time. Our teachers actively convert classroom and outdoor environments into movement experiences: running, jumping, balancing, throwing, catching, and coordination challenges woven into the daily routine. The quality of supervision during movement time — not the existence of a separate space — is what determines whether a child is truly safe and engaged. Our outdoor playground areas are surfaced with artificial turf, so overnight rain or a passing shower doesn’t keep us inside — children get outside consistently, in every season.
Does Primrose School of Eagan offer parent-teacher conferences or progress updates?
Our family app keeps parents connected throughout the day with real-time updates and photos. Development is tracked through Ages & Stages Questionnaires®, normed academic measures, and Evidence of Learning Portfolios — so both teachers and families have a documented record of each child’s progress over time. We hold regular parent-teacher conferences. Because our teachers have known most of our children for years, those conversations go well beyond a standard check-in.
Does Primrose School of Eagan provide meals and snacks?
Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are prepared fresh in our on-site kitchen and included in tuition — no separate meal fees. Our kitchen is nut-free, and meals are planned to support healthy development throughout the day.
What is the tuition at Primrose School of Eagan and what does it include?
Tuition varies by classroom and schedule. Every family receives the same all-inclusive program:
- Daily education through our Balanced Learning® curriculum
- Nutritious breakfast, lunch and snacks prepared on-site
- Real-time communication and photos through our family app
- Child development assessments including Ages & Stages Questionnaires® and Evidence of Learning Portfolios
- Character development and life skills programming

Schedule an introduction call and we’ll walk you through the specifics for your child’s age and program.
What are the differences between your part-time and full-time programs?
Full-time enrollment is four or five days per week. Part-time options follow a consistent weekly schedule — typically Monday/Wednesday/Friday for three-day families, or Tuesday/Thursday for two-day families — so children have predictable routines and classrooms maintain the right mix of peers. Many families begin part-time while their child settles in and move to full-time over time. For scheduling questions specific to your child’s age, our office is the right place to start.
Does Primrose School of Eagan offer a summer program?
Yes. Our summer program is designed for the families already part of our community — graduating Kindergarten students, Pre-K children moving up, and select siblings and returning families. If you are interested in summer availability for your child, contact our office directly and we’ll let you know what’s open.
What security measures are in place at drop-off and pick-up?
Our front office is staffed throughout the day, and every arrival is met by someone who knows your family. Access requires secure keypad entry, and only adults on your authorized pickup list may collect your child. We ask families to keep that list current — and our team holds to it without exception. Staff conduct monthly emergency drills covering fire, tornado, and lockdown scenarios so that if something happens, children and teachers respond from practice, not panic.
What is the sick child policy at Primrose School of Eagan?
Children and staff must stay home until fever-free for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medication, and until respiratory symptoms have cleared. If a child becomes ill during the day, we contact the family right away. Beyond the policy itself, we maintain a broader health environment throughout the school:
- Handwashing embedded in daily routines
- High-touch surfaces and toys sanitized regularly throughout the day
- Teachers trained to recognize early signs of illness
- Individual cots and blankets for every child, laundered weekly
- Bryant Evolution™ air purification technology — the same standard used in hospitals — re-purifying indoor air up to eight times per hour
A healthy school takes consistent effort, and this is where we put it.
Does Primrose School of Eagan provide diapers?
We ask families to provide diapers from home. The reason is simple — children do best with the same diaper they use consistently, and families know what works for their child. Using a single brand across a classroom introduces variability that can lead to discomfort or irritation for some children. Bringing diapers from home is one small way we keep your child’s experience at school as consistent as possible with their experience at home.
What is Primrose School of Eagan's policy for school closures?
Primrose School of Eagan does not follow the school district calendar. District closures are often driven by bussing logistics — that is not a factor for us. We stay open during cold weather and snow except where the safety of children or staff is genuinely at risk. On rare occasions we open two hours late when staff need additional time to travel safely. For working families who cannot absorb unexpected days off, that distinction matters.
How do I enroll my child at Primrose School of Eagan?
Start by scheduling an introduction call through our website or by contacting our office directly. During that call we’ll learn about your child and your family’s needs, walk you through our programs and tuition, and answer any questions you have before you visit. From there, we’ll schedule a tour of the school where you’ll see our classrooms in action and meet our team in person. We do our best to respond to every inquiry promptly — or you can schedule a specific time directly through our website that works for your schedule.
