Mickey and Melinda Arora

Meet Melinda and Mickey Arora, proud Franchise Owners of Primrose School of Cottage Grove. As long time Cottage Grove residents, they are excited to bring the nation’s leading early education and care provider to their neighborhood.

Before Mickey and Melinda’s first son was born in 2012, the couple began to look for a premier high-quality child care option that provided a nurturing atmosphere, as they both worked full-time. They fell in love with Primrose while on a tour of one of the schools. From the moment they walked in, they knew Primrose was the caliber of early education and care they wanted for their growing family. But Cottage Grove and South Woodbury did not have the high-quality education that Primrose offers, so they decided to help their local community fulfill that need by becoming Franchise Owners of their own Primrose school.

“We’ve had a desire to start our own business for a long time, but once we had children, our dream changed into opening a business that would help them and our local community,” said Melinda. “We knew Primrose was the right opportunity for our family because we believe in the benefits and values of the Balanced Learning® approach and love the nurturing environment that a Primrose school provides to children as the leaders in early education.”

The couple met on the tennis courts, and the rest is history! After getting married, more than 21 years ago, they moved to Cottage Grove. Mickey graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and holds a master’s degree in Technology Management from the University of St. Thomas. Melinda has a bachelor’s degree in Marketing Management and a mini MBA from St. Thomas. They both run the day-to-day operation of the school and proud their school location is an onsite owner operated. In their down time, the couple still stay active by playing friendly games of tennis and taking long walks with their family. Spending time together as a family is the most treasured part of their day.

“As working parents ourselves, we understand that children are the most precious beings in anyone’s life, and as parents, you want the highest quality care for them while you’re away at work,” said Mickey. “We had dreamed of bringing Primrose to Cottage Grove and South Woodbury area, and throughout our four-year journey from concept to construction, we knew that we could not give up on bringing the premier education to our deserving community. That’s why we opened this school: to provide excellent early education that also focuses on developing character in children to more families in our local community of Cottage Grove and South Woodbury.”

Primrose School of Cottage Grove features the Primrose Schools exclusive Balanced Learning approach. The research-informed approach blends purposeful play with nurturing guidance to encourage curiosity, confidence and compassion. Mickey and Melinda’s sons both attend the school and take part in the Primrose Experience.
