See What Families Are Saying

When it was time to find care for our youngest son, we looked at several different schools and programs, and we were thrilled to find Primrose. As soon as we walked in the door, it was apparent we found the perfect place for our son. The staff provides a loving and safe environment, and they value early childhood education. It has been a blessing to know that they provide the highest quality care for our son and the teachers and staff are always so friendly and welcoming. Our son loves going every day, and we have peace of mind that he is well cared for.

Primrose School of Fleming Island

Both of my children, have attended Primrose for the past couple of years. They are now in the public school system, but attend Primrose in the afternoon. As a working mom, it is so nice knowing that my children enjoy their time at Primrose after school and that the staff maintains an envirmonent that allows the children time and help with their homework. As a parent, there is nothing more important and valuable than knowing that your children are being cared for and in a safe environment. Thank you Primrose Fleming Island for providing this level of service for me and my family!

Meet the Owners

Hello. We are Dodie & Charles Pleiss, the proud owners of the Primrose School of Fleming Island for over 5 years. We have been associated with Primrose over 15 years. Prior to owning the school in Fleming Island, we both worked for the Primrose parent company so we understand how unique and special Primrose is. Our daughter Addison was a student of Primrose since she was 12 weeks old and even attended the Explorer after school program. It was scary leaving her as an infant so Primrose was that…

Yes, Primrose School of Fleming Island is Cognia® accredited, reflecting our commitment to providing a high-quality early learning and care experience for every child.

This recognition means our curriculum, teaching practices, health and safety procedures and family partnerships are regularly evaluated against outside standards and re-evaluated on an ongoing basis to stay current.

Accreditation is not a one-time achievement. It is an ongoing process of continuous improvement that helps ensure we consistently deliver a nurturing, engaging and high-quality learning environment where children can thrive.

We follow the Balanced Learning® approach, exclusively developed by Primrose Schools®, to nurture the whole child intellectually, physically, socially and emotionally.

Through Balanced Learning®, our dedicated teachers create engaging learning experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity, confidence and compassion.

By thoughtfully blending purposeful play, guided discovery and nurturing support, we help your child build the skills to learn, grow and thrive, from our Infant classroom through Kindergarten.

Each day, our caring teachers combine structured learning, purposeful play and rest into a rhythm suited to every age group, integrated with circle time, small-group lessons, Children’s Choice Learning Centers, meals and rest.

At our school, children also enjoy additional enrichment experiences like sports that inspire creativity, confidence and new skills.

School readiness starts in our Infant classroom and grows through every stage of our Balanced Learning® approach, with each year building the academic, social-emotional and life skills children need for future success.

Using balanced assessments and ongoing teacher observations, we monitor each child’s development, individualize learning experiences and stay in close contact with families to support a confident transition to kindergarten and beyond.

Not a requirement. Our teachers work one-on-one with each family to support potty training at your child’s own pace, keeping the routine consistent between school and home.

Yes, Primrose School of Fleming Island has 4 playgrounds with artificial turf which include multi-surface jungle gyms and outdoor fields featuring Thumbs Up! physical literacy zones for coordination games, giving children daily outdoor time as part of their regular schedule.

Our playgrounds are carefully monitored to ensure children can explore, play and learn safely. Staff stay hands-on throughout playtime, keeping current on daily safety checks and constant supervision.

Weather-related precautions and ongoing environmental monitoring work together to keep every outdoor experience secure.

Yes, we offer before- and after-school pickup from the following schools: Thunderbolt, Fleming Island Elementary, Paterson and St. John’s Classical (Fleming Island location).

After school, your child heads straight into homework time, and there’s still plenty of the afternoon left for games, crafts and outdoor play before we close at 6:00 p.m.

Of course! Our on-site chef prepares lunch and snacks fresh each day in our own culinary kitchen, all part of our Balanced Menus. Breakfast is also available for children who arrive before 7:30 a.m.

Our lunch menus include favorites like chicken soft tacos with diced tomatoes and mashed black beans, with snacks like yogurt and fresh fruit in the morning and wheat thins with hummus in the afternoon, giving children variety and proper nutrition throughout the week.

Our teachers and kitchen staff are trained to accommodate gluten, wheat and celiac needs, peanut and tree nut allergies, milk and dairy allergies and egg allergies, as well as vegetarian, vegan, kosher and halal diets.

Our Balanced Learning® approach is designed to meet children where they are. Teachers adapt activities, instruction and support to match each child’s developmental stage and learning needs.

Through purposeful play and nurturing guidance, we help every child build confidence and grow at their own pace.

For families working with outside early intervention or special education providers, our teachers welcome ongoing communication to help support the child’s experience in the classroom.

Yes, every team member completes a detailed background check before joining our school and maintains current CPR and first-aid certification.

Primrose School of Fleming Island maintains teacher-to-child ratios that meet or fall below the requirements of the Florida Department of Children and Families for every age group.

Smaller ratios mean more one-on-one attention, so teachers have time to get to know your child individually.

Primrose School of Fleming Island is licensed and regulated by the Florida Department of Children and Families, which sets requirements for staff qualifications, health and safety and classroom ratios.

We are also Cognia® accredited, an additional layer of independent evaluation beyond state licensing.

Yes. Medication administration at Primrose School of Fleming Island is handled by our school leadership, who are trained to respond quickly and safely to each child’s needs.

For any child with medical needs, leadership keeps an individualized care plan on file, so they know exactly how to respond.

Every classroom at Primrose School of Fleming Island follows a Safe School Plan designed to help our team respond calmly and quickly whenever the need arises.

Staff and children practice these drills monthly, and the plan stays continually updated to keep families informed.

We use an app to keep families connected throughout the day, sharing photos, classroom activities, curriculum information, nap updates and diaper change and bathroom visit notifications.

The app also supports two-way communication, so staying in touch with your child’s teachers is simple.

We value open, ongoing communication and connect with families in person during drop-off and pick-up to talk through your child’s day, answer questions and share observations from the classroom.
