    Director

My name is Melissa Kerley and I am the Director at Primrose School of Canton. I come to Primrose with 17 years of experience in Early Childhood Education. My first ten years consisted of teaching pre-kindergarten, junior kindergarten, and private kindergarten. The past seven years have been in Early Education Administration - most recently working as a Director of a premier childcare facility. I currently live in Northville. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, writing, horseback riding, and traveling.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Master of Art in Early Childhood Education from Eastern Michigan University. My favorite part of being a director is watching the children grow, learn, and play. I am excited to be at Primrose School of Canton and looking forward to making connections with the families and staff members!

I have an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from Rasmussen University and enrolled in Bible School studying Children's Ministry.    My leadership journey as a Site Director for a Preschool GSRP/Head Start program led me to roles of Director, Field Coach and Marketing Coordinator. My interest in health and fitness led me to pursue and obtain a Personal Fitness Training Certification from the International Sports and Science Association.

I currently live in the Canton/Westland area with my husband, and we have 4 children, 2 grandchildren and 2 dogs.  I am active in my church and spend free time volunteering at a non-profit medical mission organization. My favorite part about early education is having the opportunity to help lay the foundation for lifelong learning.  I am excited to start this new journey with Primrose and look forward to connecting with children, families, and staff.

    Kunjan & Hemal Patel

    Franchise Owner

We are the Patel family, residents of Canton and the proud owners of the Primrose School of Canton. We are the parents to an adventurous 5-year old son and a curious 3-year old daughter.

I am Kunjan and will be overseeing the school in Canton, with my husband Hemal. I completed my bachelor’s degree in engineering from Michigan State University and worked in the aviation field in the past and most recently as an operations executive of a non-profit organization in Detroit. Hemal attended Kent State University and has spent the past few years working in a leadership capacity in the Healthcare IT industry.

Family values have been a top priority for us. While we enjoyed our careers in the corporate world, we also wanted to pursue an endeavor that would teach our children the importance of family and community, and Primrose Schools gave us that opportunity. Our Primrose journey began watching our nephews attending a Primrose School. We were amazed at the impact that Balanced Learning® curriculum had on their intellectual, social and emotional development. As we began our family, we noticed a lack of high-quality childcare options in our area. We decided to bring Primrose Schools to other families in Canton, as the first Primrose School in Michigan!

“Who children become is as important as what they know,” is a belief that is at the core of our Balanced Learning® approach. Our exclusive early learning approach balances purposeful play with nurturing guidance from teachers to encourage curiosity, creativity, confidence and compassion. We deliver more than a curriculum; it’s a life-changing early learning experience for children and their families.

We are excited to meet you and welcome you to the Primrose family!
