Don and Arlena McLaughlin

Don and Arlena McLaughlin are proud franchise owners of seven Primrose Schools serving The Woodlands and Spring communities. As longtime residents of The Woodlands and experienced leaders in business and early education, they are passionate about helping children grow and succeed. The McLaughlins are honored to bring the trusted Primrose Experience to local families, providing high-quality early education in a warm, nurturing environment.

Before becoming franchise owners, Don and Arlena built successful careers in their respective fields. Don is a seasoned developer and realtor and the owner of Caliber Building Company, which has constructed twenty Primrose Schools throughout the Houston area. Today, the McLaughlin family owns and operates seven Primrose Schools, supported by a centralized Support Office that provides financial, accounting, maintenance, and operational services. This office includes eight family members, ensuring the highest level of care and support for the children and families they serve.

Arlena McLaughlin brings more than twenty-five years of experience in the Houston-area publishing industry, where she earned a reputation for hiring, training, and retaining exceptional teams. She is a proud recipient of numerous awards, including the Paul Harris Rotary Club Award and the Businesswoman of the Year award. One of her most meaningful accomplishments was serving as Chairman of the Board for the Walker County Chamber of Commerce, where she successfully led fundraising efforts to erect the Sam Houston Statue. Developing people is her passion, and her leadership continues to shape the culture and success of their schools.

For more than forty years, the McLaughlins have been deeply involved in their community, serving in leadership and chairman roles with organizations such as United Way, Salvation Army, Boys & Girls Club, Education Foundation, Crimestoppers, Rotary Clubs, library boards, youth and high school sports programs, community and economic development advisory boards, and their church, including roles as RA Director and Children’s Choir Director.

Along with their experienced leadership team, the McLaughlins are honored recipients of the prestigious Primrose President’s Award for Excellence. “From the moment we discovered Primrose Schools, we knew this was the path we were meant to take,” Arlena shared.
