Welcome to Primrose Schools!
Welcome to Primrose Schools! We are Amit & Nita Thakor, proud owners of Primrose School of Atlee Commons and Primrose School of Twin Hickory! We discovered Primrose in 2014 when looking for high quality childcare for our first born, Grayson. We were impressed with Primrose from the moment we walked in and saw the clean and welcoming environment. We immediately knew Primrose was the perfect choice for our family. Our second child, Sage, also attended Primrose as an infant and thrived. Primrose helped place the foundation for learning and curiosity that we still see in them both today.
Prior to becoming Primrose franchise owners, Amit operated and managed hotels for over 20 years. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Hospitality & Management and Business. Nita is a Family Practice Physician and attended the College of Charleston in South Carolina. She completed residency at St. Francis Hospital in Midlothian Virginia and currently works part time at Patient First practicing Urgent and Primary care. She considers it a privilege to be able to dedicate more of her time to Primrose.
We continue to be amazed by Primrose’s outstanding approach to education, the accredited curriculum, enrichment and character development. “Who children become is as important as what they know” is a belief that is at the core of the Primrose Balanced Learning® approach, and one that we both feel very passionate about. Are all staff members background-checked and CPR/first-aid certified?
Yes. Every Primrose staff member undergoes a thorough background check before joining our school. All staff are also CPR and first–aid certified, so you can feel confident your child is in safe, prepared hands every day.
What curriculum or educational philosophy do you follow?
Our school uses the proprietary Primrose Schools Balanced Learning® curriculum, which is research-informed and designed to nurture the whole child — intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically. We believe in balancing teacher-guided learning with purposeful play to build a strong foundation for the future.
How do you support school readiness and the transition to kindergarten?
All of our programs are designed in age-appropriate ways to prepare children for kindergarten and beyond. We focus on early literacy and numeracy as well as social-emotional skill development — so children arrive at kindergarten confident and ready to thrive. 96% of Primrose Schools Pre-K students met ASQ benchmarks for problem solving.*
What are your hours of operation?
We are open Monday through Friday from 7:00 am-6:00 pm.
How do you keep parents informed about their child's day?
Connecting school to home is one of the ways we help children thrive. We use the Procare app to share daily updates and photos so you stay connected to your child’s joy, learning and special moments
