Primrose School would love to meet your family.
Contact UsWelcome to the Primrose of Woodbury NY.
We, Shveta and Rahul Alreja, are the proud owners of the Primrose of Woodbury NY, the first Primrose school in New York State. We are passionate about early childhood education and are dedicated to positively making an impact in the lives of children and their families in a secure and nurturing learning environment.
90% of a child’s brain is formed in their first five years, thus making these years the most formative for overall development and learning. Even prior to having two children of our own, we understood the significance provided by a strong early childcare and educational experience. After thorough research, it was ultimately Primrose’s value and promise that led us to partner with them.
I, Shveta, began my professional career as an undergrad from Boston University, with a B.A. in Business Administration, Marketing, and Psychology. I worked in corporate America and India as a brand manager at Unilever. Following my stint in India, I operated a wholesale clothing business. It was after a few years of working that I realized that I was not entirely satisfied and needed a change. My brother Neel, who has autism and has been the cornerstone of inspiration for all major life decisions, inspired my next path. I decided to take a detour and pursue my M.A. in Early Childhood and Special Education from New York University. My graduate school and teaching experience in the NYC public school system proved to be gratifying, and ultimately carved this new chapter in my life.
Since Rahul and I were born and raised, and are now raising our own family on Long Island, it was imperative for us to give back to our community. We were familiar with the dearth of high quality early educational programs around us, which eventually led to our decision to be a part of the Primrose family. Especially after having two kids of our own, Arya and Kavir, it became even more apparent to us to want to bring to Long Island the high-quality standards and education of that of Primrose.
At Primrose Schools, all facets of a child’s development – cognitive, social emotional, physical, creative, and character development - are paid close attention to. Primrose’s proprietary Balanced Learning Curriculum masterfully weaves all learning domains in a developmentally appropriate and intentional way, and the Balanced Learning Journey builds on the teachings from grade to grade. The Balanced Learning Curriculum is time tested throughout the 400+ schools across the country, and research informed by industry experts. Every detail is thoughtfully addressed, as proven by being the first educational preschool to earn national accreditation from AdvancedED.
We are excited to be a part of the Primrose family, and are looking forward to making a difference in the lives of children, their parents, and the community around us.
We are conveniently located on Crossways Park Drive W, right down the street from Jericho Turnpike and minutes away from A.P. Willits Elementary School and Walt Whitman Elementary School. Unlike an ordinary daycare in Woodbury, we provide your child with a robust early education and child care experience.
Infant, Toddler, Early Preschool, Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, After School
At Primrose, your child will get more than an infant daycare experience. Our teachers help your child develop and grow, building one skill upon another, which is why we are the leader in infant child care.
Primrose Schools, the premier leader in early education and care, is inviting families across the country to participate in the newly created “National Day of Belongingness.” The day is being created to help children feel included and nurture respect, kindness and understanding from an early age through books, at-home activities and other resources.
Fostering a sense of belongingness has been a part of every day at Primrose for the past 40 years, and we’re excited to invite all families, from Primrose and beyond, to join in as we celebrate the annual National Day of Belongingness on September 29.
Welcoming all our lovely grandparents for afternoon snack on September 8.
Try these easy at-home activities to promote character and social growth that will help children celebrate their similarities and differences, and help create connections with others.
Welcoming all our new and returning students! We are ready for a great school year ahead!
To better meet the individual needs of every child, we’re proud to implement Ages & Stages Questionnaires® (ASQ®-3 and ASQ®:SE-2) in Primrose schools across the country.
Primrose Families: Join us on Friday, August 18 at 730 PM for a showing of The Super Mario Bros. Movie!
Each Primrose school is held to high standards of safety and cleanliness while maintaining a caring and nurturing environment where children can thrive.
We had a fun filled safari week! Our students experimented with baking soda and vinegar to make their own volcanoes, created dinosaur fossils out of salt dough, used recycled materials to make binoculars, and we ended off our week dressed as explorers for our “into the wild” parade! 🐯🐅🦁🐘🦓🦏🐆 Next up, inventors week!
There’s no question that parents want their preschoolers to grasp the basics of colors, numbers and letters to foster a lifetime of learning.
Ending off our ooey gooey science week with a mad science show! We learned all about reactions with dry ice and liquids, how fire affects air pressure, how heat is transferred from different objects and more! Thank you to the STEM Education Mad Science Group, our students enjoyed every minute of it! 🧬🧪🫧
It might seem odd to think about your preschooler exploring data analysis and algebra.
Congratulations to our Pre-K class of 2023! We are so proud of each and everyone of you, we know you have a bright future ahead of you. We will miss you all!
It's a fact: children learn better when they are engaged. That's why purposeful play and nurturing guidance from teachers are key components of Balanced Learning. See how this time-tested approach with a strong emphasis on life skills and character development can help your child develop and excel.
Thank you to everyone who attended our Grand Opening Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony!! We are thrilled to be a part of this amazing community.
Come celebrate Primrose School of Woodbury NY at our Grand Opening! After being open for six months, we are so thrilled to finally have our official ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Valentine's Day was especially fun at Primrose! We wore red and pink and lots of hearts! We had so much fun making and delivering Valentines to our friends in different classrooms! We ate pink bagels and had special cards delivered from our Family! There was so much LOVE on Valentine's Day!
We are so happy to have our first day of school!
We were proud to partner with Helping Hands Rescue Mission in Huntington to contribute food and other non-perishable items, donated by families and staff members through our Caring and Giving Food Drive. We were able to donate over 100 items and look forward to partnering with them in December for their toy drive!
One of the most common questions parents have about newborns and infants relates to tummy time and just how much of it babies should get. Before jumping into the answer, let’s take a look at what tummy time is, how it came about, and why it is now so commonly recommended as an important activity for babies.
Check out this post for more ways to make bedtime easier for you and your child!
Sunday, September 13th was Grandparent's Day!

Happy Father's Day!!! We at Primrose of Woodbury NY celebrated Father's Day by surprising our special Primrose families with DIY kite making kits.
"We believe who children become is as important as what they know." That is our ethos. The core of our belief system. With our continuous mission to forge a path that leads to a brighter future for ALL children. Our Balanced Learning Approach was developed with a foundational focus to teach good character, introduced and reinforced through our Primrose Puppet Friends who represent an array of character traits we would want our children to imbibe to be good quality model citizens. This age is critical in shaping the people we become so its that much more important to teach and model the peopel we want them to become. Its never too early to start: https://www.zerotothree.org/resources/1598-racism-and-violence-using-your-power-as-a-parent-to-support-children-aged-two-to-five
We celebrated Earth Day in a fantastically cute way. We prepared Earth Day baskets for our enrolled families and they were a super hit! We included activities like: taking care of a plant, nature scavenger hunt, Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar followed by a caterpillar craft, recycling (paper, plastic, metal) sorting activity with household items in paper bags, and Earth Day yoga. We dropped off the baskets to the doorsteps of our families and were greeted with beautiful pictures and videos!
Rahul and Shveta Alreja from Primrose of Woodbury NY and some friends have begun a charity, Fortify the Front, to raise money to bring food and other necessities to our heroes on the frontlines during the Covid-19 pandemic. We are supporting the small businesses by partnering with local restaurants to provide fresh meals for workers at local hospitals, fire departments, police stations, post offices, etc. 100% of all money raised will be used to offset the cost of the food that will be delivered. Thank you in advance - together, LET'S FORTIFY THE FRONT!
One month ago, we hosted a live presentation of science experiments from our curriculum at the Blippi Live Show. We've since edited and posted this on Youtube. Take a look - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aeijyr8QOHk

Libby is a lovely lamb who likes to listen carefully. She gives everyone a turn to speak, making sure each person has a voice. She is calm and thoughtful, making sure to hear other opinions before making a decision. Let's all try to be fair like her. Wishing you the best of birthdays, Libby!
We just completed our first Parent Informational Session. It was such a great experience. We were so welcomed and well-received, that we're even more excited for the journey ahead. Mongo's Coffee Shop is a brand new barista with a fabulous backstory. They were so great to partner with, and our colors against their retro, industrial roastery was a huge success. Gearing up for the next!
