"Megybyte" is a computer-wiz pig who likes to learn about our great big world via the computer. Whenever Megy is curious or wants to explore she just goes to the computer and finds her answers! She's very curious and loves to help other learn, too. Megy's birthday is on April 15th.
The shift from preschool to kindergarten is a big milestone for any child. This huge step will be full of excitement, but it is also a time of new beginnings and routines. In the spirit of National Kindergarten Day, we asked three parents to share their secrets to success while their children were in kindergarten:
The Martinez Family’s goal is to raise responsible, loving, hilarious children who stay close to us, and will one day enjoy coffee with us while their children play at our feet. When we met, neither of us would have thought we would end up together, but here we still are after all these years. Mark was drawn to my humor, and I was drawn to the consistency I saw in the way he parented his young child (from a previous marriage), Lanae, who is now a teenager. For a long time, we were blessed to think it would just be the three of us, then along came our miracle, Darby. At 2lbs 5 oz, her initial medical issues threw us for a loop, but her strength and determination since day one has kept us in awe of who she is, and excited about who she may, one day, become. When not spending time with the girls, we enjoy concerts and sporting events. We have a close relationship with our immediate family, and love to spend time with them as often as possible. We laugh a lot, and manage to keep much of the pressures of parenting at bay through humor and shared perspective, goals, and values. We are thankful to be a part of Primrose, a place where our treasure can grow in mind, body, and spirit, even when we’re not with her. Having a safe place to leave our miracle, a place she can thrive and learn, is vitally important to our little family.

My daughter was a slow-to-warm-up baby and a well-behaved toddler. She never hit or pushed, but instead used her words — like the time she famously told me at age three, “Mommy, I don’t like the choices you’re choicing me.”
Play is a crucial part of the social, emotional and imaginative development of young children, but not all play is created equal!
Now if only they would stop drawing on the walls...
