Information Caring and Giving: 1,500 Pounds of Food Donated to Families in Need

Our school is making a difference in the community through our annual Caring and Giving Food Drive! This year, we donated 1,500 pounds of food to Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels and Rosenberg-Richmond Helping Hands.

As one of our annual Primrose Promise℠ Giving Events, the Caring and Giving Food Drive provides an opportunity for children to learn the joy of giving without expecting firsthand. During the month of November, Preschool and Pre-K students practice responsibility by earning money for the food items through age-appropriate chores at home. The children then use math, nutrition and planning skills in a hands-on way – they combine their money and count it, learn how to plan healthy meals and create shopping lists. Students “shop” for items in our Primrose Canned Good Grocery Store. Finally, we take a field trip to deliver the items to those in need so the children can see their giving efforts come full circle!

At Primrose, we believe who children become is as important as what they know. The Caring and Giving Food Drive is just one example of how we nurture important character traits and help instill compassion and a desire to give back in children.
