Primrose School would love to meet your family.
Schedule A TourHello… I’m Jamie Ovlia, owner of the Primrose School of St. Charles at Heritage.
My story starts in back in 2016. I’d been struggling to find the right childcare for my daughter, Penelope, until I found Primrose and instantly knew it was what I was looking for!
At Primrose, I immediately saw that the focus was always on doing what's best for the child. I loved the emphasis on healthy food choices – no juice or sugary, processed snacks – and a curriculum developed by experts in the field.
While our family was very happy, the only downside was the distance of school from our home. So after over a year of long commutes and a lot of time for soul searching, I decided to leave my job in the medical field to bring the Primrose Experience to my hometown!
We’re proud to announce that Primrose School of St. Charles at Heritage was recognized as the 2019 winner of Best Childcare in St. Charles by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch!

Primrose School of St. Charles at Heritage is located in the Heritage neighborhood in St. Peters, off of Highway 364 and right down the road from Schaefer Park and Becky-David Elementary School.
At Primrose, we believe who children become is as important as what they know. We provide education-based childcare from 6 weeks of age through pre-Kindergarten as well as programs for summer camp and before/after school for elementary-aged children.
We emphasize all aspects of a child's growth, including social, emotional, physical, creative, cognitive and character development. Our proprietary programs in music, art, gardening, life skills, and foreign language were developed especially for Primrose schools by leading experts. When it comes to helping your child reach their full potential, we leave no stone unturned!
Here’s what sets us apart from other childcare, daycare, and preschool programs.
Through the Primrose Balanced Learning approach, we provide a premier early education and childcare experience for children and families that combines purposeful play and nurturing guidance. This time-tested approach inspires children to think with curiosity, creativity, confidence and compassion, instilling a lifelong love of learning. Research shows that introducing a skill when a child is truly ready leads to mastery instead of frustration.

Our curriculum not only focuses on traditional academic skills, but also incorporates key social, emotional, and executive function skills, such as adaptability, critical thinking, and teamwork. In today's rapidly changing and interconnected world, it's these "soft" skills that will increasingly be most critical to your child's future success.
Rather than asking teachers to develop their own curriculum like at some other centers or preschools, our curriculum is written by experts in Early Childhood Education, combining the best thinking of learning philosophers (like Montessori) along with modern wisdom from the latest child development studies.
At Primrose, the safety of children and their families is always our top concern. Entrance to our building requires a unique access code and is limited only to authorized parents, guardians, teachers, and staff members. Our building and parking lot is monitored by security cameras. We also have a robust safe school plan developed in partnership with emergency preparedness experts with input from our local police and fire departments.
We were also the first private preschool, daycare, or childcare provider in the area to have a storm shelter constructed in accordance with the latest FEMA P-361 and ICC 500 standards. The storm shelter, which is rated to withstand winds of up to 250 mph, features 8-inch concrete reinforced walls and has the capacity to accommodate all children, teachers, and staff.
See my interview with the Weather Channel about our FEMA-rated storm shelter in this video.
Our Primrose Balanced Menu focuses on whole grains, lean proteins, fruits, and vegetables. All food is made from scratch daily, with limited processed food and sugar. We serve a full breakfast, morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack each day. Organic milk is served with each meal, and water is served with each snack.
Did you know that 90% of a child’s brain develops in the first five years? It's amazing to think about how much is happening in your child's brain! The first five years, where the brain is making connections at a rate of growth unlike any other time in life, are an ideal time to engage a child's mind and create the foundation for learning and growth that will help them thrive academically, emotionally and socially in all the years that follow.
See video for more information on the importance of a child's first five years.
