  • Katy Green, Director

    Katy Green

    Director

    Katy Green is the Director of the Primrose School of Southwest Austin. Katy graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas State with a Bachelors Degree in Education and Teaching Certificate. Katy has been with Primrose since the first academic school year at the Primrose School of Shady Hollow in 2006. She started out as a preschool teacher at the Primrose School of Shady Hollow. The following year, Katy moved to the Kindergarten classroom where she stayed for the next five years. Katy truly loved her job teaching little ones to read and write, add, and subtract. The summer of 2012, Katy was promoted to the director position at the Primrose School of Southwest Austin. She is from Austin, Tx and she loves to spend time with boys Brandon and Kaleb, and husband Brian. Katy really loves to read, and is constantly downloading new books to her Kindle. Her favorite children's book is Goodnight Moon. Katy relates to the Primrose friend, Og the Bookworm, the most because of her love of reading!

  • Felicia Rico, Assistant Director

    Assistant Director

    Felicia Rico is the Assistant Director at the Primrose School of Southwest Austin. She began her career with children in 2007 with another private preschool. In 2010, Felicia moved to the Primrose School of Shady Hollow and then to the Primrose School of Southwest Austin in 2012. Here, she has taught multiple classrooms and eventually settled as the assistant director in 2017. Felicia has her Bachelor's Degree in Sports Science and is originally from Sugar Land, Tx. She loves to spend her weekends with family and friends hanging out outdoors. Felicia's favorite children's book is Oh the Places You Will Go. She most relates to the Primrose friend, Erwin the Dog, because she loves to celebrate her friends!

    Curriculum Director

    Karina Jakobeit is the Curriculum Director of Primrose School of Southwest Austin.  Karina graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education.  Karina started with Primrose in 2021 as a preschool teacher and moved into pre-kindergarten the following year.  Karina adored her students and enjoyed building trusting relationships with their families.  In June of 2023, Karina was promoted to Curriculum Director, where she could make an impact on the teachers and staff.  She is currently pursuing her Master of Education degree.  In her spare time, she loves to spend time with her daughter Layla and husband Ross.  Karina has played flute and piccolo for over twenty years and is part of a community wind ensemble.

  • Barbara

    Food Service Teacher

    Ms. Barbara has lived in Austin her whole life and has tons of experience with children. She has raised her own children for 32 years and is getting to know her grandchildren. Ms. Barbara enjoys caring for fish in salt water tanks and gardening. She also enjoys working here because she feels she can make a difference everyday and prepare great food. Ms. Barbara has worked in the food industry for many years and enjoys cooking food for others.

    Ms. Marian is originally from Chicago, but has lived in Austin for 5 years. She enjoys being with friends and having cookouts with her family. On the weekends, Ms. Marian switches roles into a CNA and takes care of elderly. She loves working at Primrose because of the relationships she has built with children, staff, and parents.  Ms. Marian also loves celebrating the infants first birthdays and reading No David

  • Aisha O.

    Infant Teacher

    Ms. Aisha is originally from Edinburg, TX and is brand new to Austin. She enjoys working out, cooking new recipes, and taking her dogs to the dog park. Ms. Aisha highly enjoys the infant room because she gets to watch them grow from tiny babies to toddlers. She loves working at Primrose because of what Primrose stands for and the curriculum is really great for the children.  Ms. Aisha also enjoys reading Clifford, The Big Red Dog and relates to Benjamin the Bear because she loves the outdoors.

    Ms. Kim has lived in Austin her whole life. She enjoys traveling, playing putt putt, coloring, and looking at maps. Ms. Kim loves spending time with her family whenever she can. She has worked in childcare for over 18 years and feels that children always make her a better person. Ms. Kim enjoys working at Primrose because the curriculum is well-balanced, our school is very family oriented, and she has built some wonderful relationships.  Ms. Kim's favorite book is The Giving Tree and relates to Ally the Bunny because she is responsible.

    Ms. Christine joined us at the Primrose School of Southwest Austin with two years of experience in childcare. She is originally from Austin, Tx. Christine loves to spend her weekends going to the park with her daughter and two puppies. Her favorite children's books are The Berenstein Bears. The Primrose friend Ms. Christine relates to most is Billy the Duck, because she loves listening to music.

    Ms. Liyah has lived in Austin her whole life. She comes from a big family and has helped take care of nieces, nephews, and friends of the family for many years. On her spare time, she enjoys writing novels, reading, and listening to music. Ms. Liyah feels that Primrose is a great place to work because it is a family oriented school and a great fit for her. She loves kids this age because they keep her on her toes and she feels fulfilled when she am around them.  Ms. Liyah enjoys reading If You Give A Mouse A Cookie to the children and relates to Libby the Lamb because she believes everyone deserves to be treated fairly.

    Ms. Rachel has lived in Austin her whole life. She enjoys going on outings like nature walks, shopping, and exploring different food spots. Ms. Rachel has helped raise her family and has been an intern in different school settings. She likes this age because she gets to make a huge impact on each child while they define their individualism. Ms. Rachel feels that at this age, they rely on us so much and she loves fulfilling that spot. She loves working at Primrose because she gets the opportunity to continue growing in a childcare setting and work with a great curriculum. Ms. Rachel's favorite children's book is Cordouroy and relates to Benjamin the Bear because he encourages kindness and generosity. 

  • Esme G.

    Toddler Teacher

    Ms. Esme is originally from El Paso, TX, but has lived in Austin for over 12 years. She loves spending quality time with her family and friends by doing outdoor activities. Ms. Esme also loves listening to music. As this is her first time taking care of children in a school setting, she has been a babysitter for many years. She loves working with this age group because of the humor behind their silliness. Ms. Esme also enjoys seeing their processes and watching their little light bulbs turn on.  Ms. Esme enjoys reading Where The Wild Things Are and relates to Molly the Cow because she encourages respect for others. 

  • Elena F.

    Older Toddler Teacher

    Ms. Elena lives just outside of Bastrop, TX and this will be her very first year teaching. Since Primrose represents community, family, and inclusion, she is so excited to start her teaching journey here. Ms. Elena enjoys exploring new places in Bastrop and Austin with her son. She also enjoys putting puzzles and Legos together. Ms. Elena feels children can see the world in such a beautiful way, and she wants to share this experience with them.  Her favorite children's book is One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and she most relates to Benjamin the Bear and Megy the Pig because she loves to recycle and compost for her garden.

    Ms. Brianna is originally from Odessa, TX., but lived in San Diego, CA, then came to Austin. She loves playing video games and volleyball as well as hiking and baking. Don't ask her to cook though! Before Primrose, she worked as a kid's club attendant and was a nanny. Ms. Brianna loves working with kids because she is still one at heart. She enjoys working with this age group because they are so playful and sweet.  She enjoys reading Where The Wild Things Are and relates to Benjamin the Bear because he loves nature and being outdoors.

    Ms. Alejandra has lived in Austin her whole life and has worked in daycares for many years. In her spare time, she enjoys crafting, working out, and taking her daughter on adventures. She loves working with kids because she gets to see them reach new milestones and thinks they are so funny.  Ms. Alejandra is continuously entertained by their personalities. She has worked at Primrose for 2 years and loves the relationships she has built with the staff, parents, and children.  She enjoys reading Go! Dogs! Go! and relates to Erwin the Dog the most because he loves building friendships.

    Ms. Brianna has lived in Austin her whole life and is finally moving to San Marcos. She loves shopping at Target, drinking Starbucks, reading, and journaling. Ms. Brianna is newly married so she also loves spending time with here husband! She loves working with this age group because they can talk to us while still being cute. Ms. Brianna has worked at Primrose for almost 3 years and enjoys the curriculum here because it is well balanced and fun. Before Primrose, I have been a babysitter and a nanny.  Ms. Brianna's enjoys any of the Llama Llama books and loves celebrating birthdays!

    Ms. Mandy is the Lead Teacher for the Early Preschool 2 classroom at Primrose. She began her childcare career with Primrose in 2018. Mandy has her Bachelor's Degree with a Major in Japanese and a Minor in Business. Her hometown is Georgetown, Tx and loves to spend her weekends playing soccer. Ms. Mandy's favorite children's book is Pete The Cat and The Pepperoni Pizza Party. The Primrose friend Mandy relates to most is Benjamin the Bear, because she loves the outdoors.

    Ms. Ruie is originally from Galveston but has lived in Austin most of her life. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the lake to skii, cooking and baking, spending time with her animals and staying outside. Before Primrose, Ms. Ruie volunteered at VBS teaching children's classes and even taught at a kid's theatre camp. She loves coming to work to be with the kids and making an impact in their little world. She loves the conversations that arise and how there is never a dull moment.  Ms. Ruie's favorite children's book is Junie B. Jones and relates most to Benjamin the Bear because he loves science, nature, and being outdoors.

    Ms. Alyssa is a Co-lead Teacher for the Preschool Pathways classroom at Primrose. She began her career in early education here at the Primrose School of Southwest Austin in early 2020. Alyssa is originally from Fargo, ND. She loves spending time with her family on the weekends by going to the movies and going out to eat. Ms. Alyssa's favorite children's book is Where The Wild Things Are. The Primrose friend she relates to most is Libby the Lamb because she enjoys helping the children find their voice and words. 

  • Kelly A.

    Preschool Pathways Teacher

    Ms. Kelly has lived in Austin her whole life and is currently serving in the Texas Army National Guard. She enjoys playing soccer and volleyball, rucking, and shopping. Ms. Kelly has enjoyed working at Primrose because it's fulfilling to provide the children comfort when needed. She enjoys this age group because their energy keeps her on her toes.  Her favoritve children's book is Junie B. Jones and she relates to Og the bookworm the most because he is caring of others and develops empathy towards his friends.

    Ms. Morgan lives in Kyle, TX, but has lived all over Texas. She enjoys being outdoors, playing sand volleyball, and hanging out with her friends. Ms. Morgan has enjoyed working for Primrose because she has built relationships with the kids, parents, and her coworkers. She adores this age group because she can see their personalities sparkle and their minds grow.  Her favorite children's book is Oh, The Places You'll Go and she relates to Benjamin the Bear because he loves the outdoors and nature. 

  • Amira P.

    Preschool Teacher

    Ms. Amira is originally from Brooklyn, NY, moved to Houston when she was 12 and just recently moved to Austin. She loves to spend time with her daughter, paint, write, and dabble in make-up. Before Primrose, Ms. Amira worked at another childcare facility in Houston and fell in love. She thinks children teach her something new every day and are so hilarious. Ms. Amira has enjoyed working at Primrose because she loves the family atmosphere and the consistent structure it provides for children.  Her favorite children's book is A Bad Case of Stripes and relates most to Og the Bookworm because she loves to read mystery novels. 

  • Erika L.

    Preschool Support Staff

    Ms. Erika is originally from Spokane, Washington and just moved to Austin. She loves spending time with her daughter and being around water. Before Primrose, Ms. Erika worked with children for over 10 years as a nanny, teacher, and a caregiver at a daycare. She has enjoyed working at Primrose because the values it stands by and teaches the children. Ms. Erika enjoys being apart of the growing process that happens early on in a child's life and creating long lasting bonds.  Her favorite children's book is Where The Wild Things Are and relates to Og the Bookworm because she is caring and loves to read stories to the class.

  • Lorely U.

    Preschool Teacher

    Ms. Lorely is originally from Brownsville, TX, but has lived in Kyle for over a year now. She currently holds a Bachelor degree in Medical Humanities and wants to pursue a teaching certification soon. Ms. Lorely also teaches dance, practices yoga, reads, and creates entertainment videos for media. She enjoys working with this age group because of the little conversations she gets to have and to see their fun personalities. She gets to connect with her younger self through her children.  Ms. Lorely's favorite children's book is The Very Hungry Caterpillar and relates to Benjamin the Bear because she loves science and nature as well. 

  • Emma H.

    Preschool Teacher

    Ms. Emma is originally from Denton, TX and currently holds a Bachelor degree in Biology. She has always enjoyed being around children and caring for them. It excites her to teach new things. Primrose's approach to teaching children and supporting families is exactly what Ms. Emma is looking for in a school environment. On her spare time, she enjoys going to the park and just being outdoors. Ms. Emma's favorite children's book is The Little Prince and relates to Og the Bookworm because she has a life long love for reading! 

  • Adriana P.

    Preschool/Pre-K Support Staff

    Ms. Adriana is from Austin, TX and was previously a substitute teacher. She enjoys swimming and hiking during her free time. Ms. Adriana has enjoyed working at Primrose because she admires what it stands for and encourages the children to do. She enjoys working with this age group because children have such open minds and are extremely creative.  Ms. Adriana's favorite children's book is Madeline and she relates the Erwin the Dog the most because he represents friendship.

    Ms. Priscilla is originally from Houston, TX and graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Ecology. She enjoys hiking to secret swimming holes, binging movies marathons, and exercising. Ms. Priscilla has observed kindergarten classes before and volunteered at schools. She comes from a family of teachers and has always wanted to be a teacher. She gets to say it's her turn now!  Ms. Priscilla's favorite children's book is The Very Hungry Caterpillar and relates to Og the Bookworm because she loves story time!

    Pre-K Teacher

    Ms. Melissa is originally from Fort Worth, TX, but has lived in Austin for 5 years. She graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre and Dance. Ms. Melissa enjoys gardening, watching movies, shopping, and taking her puppy to the park. She is also pursuing acting opportunities as a creative outlet. Ms. Melissa has enjoyed Primrose so far because of the other teachers and the relationships she has built with the children. She loves listening to them use their communication skills and watching them put them into practice.  Ms. Melissa's favorite children's book is Rainbow Fish and relates to Og the Bookworm the most because she loves story time and is very caring.

    Ms. Aubrey is originally from Schertz, TX, but has lived in San Marcos for 6 years. She graduated from Texas State with a  Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History and Journalism. Ms. Aubrey enjoys reading, antiquing, going to concerts, and taking her dog on scenic walks. She enjoys working at Primrose because of the awesome people she works for, the long lasting bonds she has created with the children, and the values Primrose stands for. Ms. Aubrey loves working with this age group because they are about to step into the big world, and she loves helping them navigate and become more self-sufficient.

    Ms. Lyndie is originally from New Bedford, MA, and has lived in Austin for 2 years. She enjoys spending time with my 2 children, reading, watching 80's movies, and listening to murder mystery podcasts. Ms. Lyndie has felt welcome and embraced since joining Primrose and enjoys the many conversations she gets with the children. She loves that they can express how they feel and how she can help build their confidence to become more self sufficient. Ms. Lyndie's favorite children's book is Where The Wild Things Are and relates to Peanut the most because she always tries to be honest.

    Ms. Eileen is originally from Rusk, TX, and has lived in Austin/San Marcos for 7 years. She enjoys playing disc golf, hiking with her dog, Ruby, and watching reruns of her favorite shows. Ms. Eileen loves being a support staff because she gets to mingle with different age groups and build relationships. She has built great relationships with children and families and built a long lasting bond. Ms. Eileen's favorite children's book is Where The Sidewalk Ends and she relates to Benjamin the Bear the most because he loves being outdoors.

    Ms. Bailey has lived in Austin her whole life and this is her first time working with children. She enjoys swimming at Barton Springs, cycling, and hiking. Ms. Bailey is currently in school to obtain her Bachelor of Science degree in Bio Chemistry. She has developed great personal relationships since starting at Primrose with the kids, parents, and coworkers. Ms. Bailey loves children's curiosity and enjoys teaching them about what they are observing. Her favorite children's book is Oh, The Places You'll Go and relates to Benjamin the Bear because she love science and nature.

    Ms. Hillary grew up right here in Austin, TX. On her spare time, she loves to hangout with her friends, go shopping, and binge watch Netflix shows. Ms. Hillary has helped take care of her nephews and since then, she wanted to work with children. She loves working here because she has fallen in love with her kiddos. They each have their own personality and its such an amazing thing to be apart of their Primrose journey. Ms. Hillary's favorite children's book is Brown Bear Brown Bear and relates to Erwin the Dog the most because he likes to be social and make friends.

    Ms. Jeny is a member of the support team at Primrose School of Southwest Austin. She joined the team in 2021. Jeny is currently in school for elementary education and child development. She is originally from Austin, Texas and loves to cook on the weekend. Ms. Jeny's favorite children's book is Too Many Tamales. She most relates to the Primrose friend Og the Bookworm because he loves to read and is very caring.

    Ms. Ceslie has lived in Austin her whole life, but recently lived in Germany for a few months. She enjoys watching MLS, Premier League, going to the movies, bike riding, and learning languages. Before Primrose, Ms. Ceslie was a nanny for 9 years for a family. She loves working with children because they have such a beautiful energy towards life.  Her favorite children's book is There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly and relates to Katie the Cat because she loves to hear about peoples live and their history.

    The Rolfsen family welcomes you to the Primrose School of Southwest Austin.

    Chris Rolfsen comes from a 15 year career with Motorola/Freescale and Shannan Rolfsen joins the school from a 12 year career with non-profits including Make-A-Wish and the American Cancer Society.

    After having their son, Callen, Chris and Shannan were so impressed by the quality of education delivered by Primrose, they purchased the Primrose School of Round Rock.

    The Rolfsen's are dedicated to “Forging a Path That Leads to a Brighter Future for All Children.”

    The school features the exclusive Balanced Learning® program for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. Developed by and taught exclusively at Primrose Schools, Balanced Learning blends teacher-directed and child-initiated activities with a special emphasis on character development in the schools.
