Information Caring & Giving Event!

Our school is making a difference in the community through our Caring and Giving Food Drive! As one of our annual Primrose Promise℠ Giving Events, the Caring and Giving Food Drive provides an opportunity for children to learn the joy of giving without expecting firsthand.

During the month of November, Preschool and Pre-K students practice responsibility by earning money for the food items through age-appropriate chores at home. The children then use math, nutrition and planning skills in a hands-on way – they combine their money and count it, learn how to plan healthy meals and create shopping lists. We then go “shopping” for the food in our school and deliver the items to those in need so the children can see their giving efforts come full circle!

This year, the children raised more than $500 through chores at home! We then collected 372 food items to donate to The Society of St. Vincent De Paul, a nonprofit that provides food, clothing, shelter and medical care for those in need in our area. At Primrose, we believe who children become is as important as what they know. The Caring and Giving Food Drive is just one example of how we nurture important character traits and help instill compassion and a desire to give back in children.
