Meet the Patels — Bejal and Mohit, owners of Primrose School of Evergreen, a national and international award-winning preschool in San Jose, CA.
Every parent knows the feeling of searching for a preschool they can trust with the person they love most. For Bejal and Mohit Patel, creating that place has become their life’s work.
The journey began with a childhood memory. At just five years old, Bejal attended boarding school, where she witnessed the challenge her parents faced in finding a school they could truly trust. That experience stayed with her and sparked a lifelong dream of creating a place where children would not only receive a well-rounded education but also feel loved, valued, and genuinely cared for.
Raised in families where education mattered above all else, they knew that if they were going to build something of their own, it would be a place devoted to high-quality early education and child care. After successful careers in corporate America, the Patels chose to follow that dream. Mohit, an engineer with a Master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University, and Bejal, a corporate communications specialist who holds a Master’s degree in Communications, combined their professional experience with a shared belief that the earliest years of a child’s life have the greatest impact on who they become.
They chose Primrose the day they saw the Primrose Balanced Learning® approach in action. Primrose naturally instills curiosity in children by helping them develop a strong foundation and love for future learning by practicing concepts in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) while sparking genuine curiosity.Every classroom, every lesson, and every interaction is thoughtfully designed to help children become confident learners, compassionate leaders, and kind human beings.
Living in the heart of Silicon Valley where most schools follow an aggressive academic-based curriculum the Patels envisioned a school where children could develop academically while still experiencing the joy of childhood where curiosity is celebrated, confidence is nurtured, and character is intentionally developed. Since children here often feel the pressure to succeed academically, the Balanced Learning approach will help instill a true lifelong joy for learning in children.
The Patels want to provide parents with the peace of mind that comes from knowing their children are well-cared for while receiving a high-quality early education. That care shows in the details families notice on their first visit: a heritage building on 1.7 green acres of the historic Mirassou Winery grounds on Aborn Road, teachers selected as carefully as family, fresh meals prepared daily by in-house chefs, and enrichment from chess, piano to coding, the school is intentionally designed to feel like a second home. Today, Primrose School of Evergreen serves families across San Jose, providing nurturing care and exceptional STEM education from infants through Transitional Kindergarten, along with after-school care and summer camps.
The Patels’ commitment to excellence has earned national recognition, including being named International Franchise Association Franchisees of the Year and receiving Primrose Schools’ National Franchise Owner of the Year, the highest honor among more than 500 schools nationwide. Our Infant Classroom (0-12 months)
At this age, your infant is mainly learning through observation and exploration. For example, as our Infant teachers talk and sing with your child during feeding, diaper changes and playtime, your little one is beginning to understand language and conversation. Nurturing interactions like these will fill your child's day and can be adapted and personalized to meet their individual needs.
Our Toddler Classroom (1-2 years)
In our Toddler program, you'll find carefully selected equipment that our newest walkers love to climb on, crawl through and hide in while stretching their gross motor skills. Teachers also use books, toys, games and other materials to create exciting explorations into colors, shapes, science and more.
Our Early Preschool Classroom (2-3 years)
Our Early Preschool teachers partner with you to help your child learn important independent life skills like potty training and hand washing while paying close attention to all aspects of your child's development. Our teachers are deeply dedicated to each child and their family, fostering a supportive and nurturing environment. Our Preschool Classroom (3- 5 years)
Your preschooler is beginning to connect letters, sounds and numbers, expanding their world through reading and math. They're building critical-thinking skills, early physical fitness and an understanding of nutrition. Our teachers support that learning and encourage your child to think in new and different ways.
Our Private Transitional Kindergarten Classroom (4- 6 years)
At Primrose School of Evergreen, San Jose, CA our Transitional-Kindergarten (TK) program helps children learn all of the Kindergarten essentials at a pace that helps build confidence and skills and sets them up for success in Kindergarten and beyond. Our curriculum teaches students to ask questions and think critically. Our TK students begin their day with developing essential skills in reading, writing, science, technology, engineering, and math through small-group, whole-group, and independent activities. 
Our Explorer/Afterschool Classroom (School Age)
Our Explorer program is designed to inspire Active Minds, Healthy Bodies, and Happy Hearts® in children aged five and up. After school, your child can unwind, build friendships, and receive homework support while enjoying activities like creative arts, sports, technology, drama, music, and games. Daily routines include puzzles, science, math, construction, library time, and arts, ensuring a balance of fun and learning. With opportunities to start clubs, lead projects, and become junior leaders, children stay engaged while benefiting from daily physical activity and healthy snacks.
Our Toddler Playground
Motor skills are important building blocks for physical activity. Our baby develops physical coordination and strengthens fine and gross motor skills by reaching for and picking up objects, rolling, sitting, crawling and finally walking.
Our Preschool Playground
Active children are more likely to become active adults. During our outdoor play time, your child develops an awareness of their body's place in space while increasing balance, coordination and agility. In addition to organized physical play, your child has time each day to strengthen gross motor muscles by sliding, climbing, jumping and running freely and safely on age-appropriate playgrounds.
Our Pre-Kindergarten Playground
During our outdoor playtime, our child develops an awareness of their body's place in space while increasing locomotor skills such as running, skipping and galloping. Your child also learns safe and effective ways to throw, catch, bounce and kick balls with coordination and agility. On our age-appropriate playgrounds, each child has time each day to strengthen gross motor muscles by sliding, climbing, jumping and running freely and safely.

Yes. Every Primrose staff member undergoes a thorough background check before joining our school. All staff are also CPR and first–aid certified, so you can feel confident your child is in safe, prepared hands every day.

We follow the Balanced Learning® approach, exclusively developed by Primrose Schools®, to nurture the whole child intellectually, physically, socially and emotionally. Through Balanced Learning®, our dedicated teachers create engaging learning experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity, confidence and compassion. By thoughtfully blending purposeful play, guided discovery and nurturing support, we help your child build the skills to learn, grow and thrive, from our Infant classroom through Transitional Kindergarten and our Explorers after school program.
What does a typical day look like at Primrose School of Evergreen?
Each day, our caring teachers combine structured learning, purposeful play, outdoor time and rest into a rhythm suited to every age group, integrated with circle time, small-group lessons, Children’s Choice Learning Centers, meals and rest. Preschool and TK circle times include a Mucho Mundo® Spanish lesson, and afternoons bring Project Time in STEM, Early Art Masters and Happy Hearts.
At our school, children also have additional activities throughout the week, including our Enrichment Programs like Coding with Megy®, Chess with Percy®, Piano with Billy®, Little Magicians with Ally℠, Zoology and Mud Pies®. Each Enrichment Program runs for 12 weeks with two lessons a week.
How does Primrose School of Evergreen support school readiness and the transition to kindergarten?
School readiness begins in our Infant program and grows through every stage of our Balanced Learning® approach, with each year building the academic, social-emotional and life skills children need for future success.
In our two Transitional Kindergarten classrooms, children receive whole-group and small-group literacy and math instruction every morning, plus a daily Writer’s Workshop.
Using balanced assessments and ongoing teacher observations, we monitor each child’s development, individualize learning experiences and partner with families through regular communication. 96% of our Pre-K students met ASQ problem-solving benchmarks, supporting a confident transition to kindergarten and beyond.

Does Primrose School of Evergreen offer Transitional Kindergarten (TK)?
Yes, we offer private Transitional Kindergarten in two TK classrooms, with full-day and half-day options.
Each morning includes whole-group and small-group literacy and math plus a daily Writer’s Workshop, and afternoons add Enrichment Programs like piano, chess, coding and zoology, with care available until 6:00 p.m. for working parents.
Does Primrose School of Evergreen have an after school program?
Yes, our Explorers after school program runs from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a 12:30 p.m. start on early-release days. We provide transportation for TK through 5th grade students from:

* James Franklin Smith Elementary School
Children finish homework first, then choose from eight activity Zones: Chill, Create, Culinary, Engineering, Game, Production, Science and Tech. Every afternoon also includes outdoor play and a snack.
Does Primrose School of Evergreen offer a summer camp?
Yes, our Summer Adventure Club gives school-age children a full summer day from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with weekly themes, small-group projects, field trips and plenty of outdoor play. We also offer full day camps for almost all school closures days.

Do you have a dedicated outdoor playground?
Yes! Primrose School of Evergreen sits on 1.7 green acres with age-appropriate play spaces for Toddlers, Preschool and TK, and every classroom enjoys two scheduled outdoor play times each day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Our playgrounds are carefully monitored to ensure children can explore, play and learn safely. Staff remain actively involved in children’s play experiences, perform daily safety checks and maintain constant supervision. Daily safety inspections, ongoing environmental monitoring and weather-related precautions help create a secure outdoor experience for every child.
Does my child need to be fully potty-trained to enroll at Primrose School of Evergreen?
Not at all. Our teachers partner one-on-one with each family to support potty training at whatever pace fits the child, keeping the approach consistent between school and home. Bathroom routines are built into every Early Preschool and Preschool Pathways day.
Are meals and snacks provided at Primrose School of Evergreen?
Of course! Our in-house chefs prepare fresh meals and snacks every day in our own kitchen, all part of our Balanced Menus. Children enjoy a morning snack, lunch, an afternoon snack and a late-afternoon snack.
Our lunch menus include favorites like butter chicken masala with rice and broccoli, Vietnamese fried rice with lemon chicken, five cheese ravioli with marinara and peas and carrots sliced into age-appropriate strips, and fish sticks with mashed potatoes and pineapple, with vegetarian swaps like tofu or cheese built into the menu throughout the week.
All foods and meals are age-appropriate.
How does Primrose School of Evergreen accommodate food allergies or dietary restrictions?
At Primrose School of Evergreen, school leadership works with families to review each child’s dietary or allergy needs, applicable medical documentation and school procedures. Accommodations are evaluated individually based on the child’s needs and the school’s ability to implement them safely.
Families commonly discuss needs such as peanut and tree nut allergies, egg allergies, milk and dairy allergies, wheat allergies, vegetarian diets with or without eggs, no beef or pork, and halal meals.
How does Primrose School of Evergreen support different learning styles in the classroom?
Our Balanced Learning® approach is designed to meet children where they are. Teachers adapt activities, instruction and support to match each child’s developmental stage and learning needs.
Much of our learning happens in small groups: one-on-one for infants, two to four children for toddlers and two to six for twos. Our learning centers hold no more than four children at a time, and children move between them freely, helping every child build confidence and grow at their own pace.
For families working with outside early intervention or special education providers, our teachers welcome ongoing communication to help support the child’s experience in the classroom.
