You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book. – Dr. Seuss
In honor of Read Across America Day, our students celebrated the joy of reading with the help of our Primrose Friend Og the Bookworm!
Leading up to Dr. Seuss’ birthday on March 2, Primrose children and families read together at home, shared favorite stories with classmates and participated in a month-long book drive as part of one of our Primrose PromiseSM Giving Events, Og’s Bountiful Books. The event is intended to raise awareness of the importance of early literacy and increase access to books for children in our community.
This year, we were thrilled to collect and donate 437 books to MUST Ministries, a nonprofit that provides essentials to children and families in Cobb and Cherokee counties. Thank you to all of our teachers, staff, students and Primrose families who helped us make a difference!
We also celebrated Read Across America Day with our annual class reading competition. This year, our students read an impressive 1,200 books! We decorated our hallway with a long paper chain, with each link representing one book read.
As part of our Primrose Balanced Learning® approach, we nurture early literacy skills and giving without expectation in our classrooms every day. At Primrose, we believe who children become is as important as what they know. Og’s Bountiful Books is just one example of how we bring the joy of giving to life for children.
