The shift from preschool to kindergarten is a big milestone for any child. This huge step will be full of excitement, but it is also a time of new beginnings and routines. In the spirit of National Kindergarten Day, we asked three parents to share their secrets to success while their children were in kindergarten:
We feel blessed to be part of the Primrose family and truly honored to be selected for the April family of the month. Taelynn, AKA Tae-Tae, is newly two and in the Early Preschool One Class. She has been at Primrose Crystal Falls since she was itty bitty, and we have loved every class she has been in. Daily, we are amazed by what she is learning! It’s nice to know she is in good hands when we head off to work each day. Troy is the COO of Brush Country Claims, and Kelly is a QUEST teacher at CC Mason Elementary School. Taelynn’s big brother, Ryker, is a Kindergartener at Parkside this year, but spent his preschool days at Primrose. Ryker even joined Taelynn at Primrose some last summer and loved all of the special summer events planned for his class. We are fortunate to have both sets of grandparents, along with aunts, uncles and cousins super close. With family, we enjoy boating, gardening, reading, swimming, playing outside, and traveling. The beach is our favorite family getaway!! Taelynn’s excitement about school each morning is an amazing way to start off our day. Watching her march in the front door to greet the front office, stop off to give Ms. Dooley her morning knuckles and smile, and then prance down the hall to her morning class reassures us that she is absolutely happy to be there. We are so appreciative of everyone at Primrose who has a hand in caring for our sweet girl! It takes a village, and we are so thankful Primrose is part of our village.
Hi, My name is Raksha Patel. I joined the Primrose family recently and have been enjoying getting to know all of the children and the wonderful staff. I was born in India. I grew up with five siblings and lots of love and care. I can speak three languages, Gujarati, Hindi and English. I graduated from college while living in India, I also studied in a law collage. I have been married to my with, Mahesh, for 18 years and moved to the United States in 2002. We have two beautiful daughters, one who is 14 and the other is 9 years of age. In my spare time I enjoy gardening, because I love nature.
My daughter was a slow-to-warm-up baby and a well-behaved toddler. She never hit or pushed, but instead used her words — like the time she famously told me at age three, “Mommy, I don’t like the choices you’re choicing me.”
Play is a crucial part of the social, emotional and imaginative development of young children, but not all play is created equal!
Now if only they would stop drawing on the walls...
