  • Mrs. Bianca Robinson, Director

    Mrs. Bianca Robinson

My name is Bianca Robinson. I grew up in Minnesota most of my life and lived in Seattle for a couple years before starting high school in New Brighton, MN. After high school I obtained my CDA in infants and toddlers from Wisconsin Stout. I currently reside in Carver, MN with my husband and a house full of daughters. I have worked in the childcare industry for 25 years and have been with the Primrose School of Chanhassen since the doors opened in December 2012.

Working with children is my passion and watching them grow and learn new skills at a very young age is so rewarding. I am able to be an important person in our families' lives by building that trust and sense of security as their parents go to work.

When I am not at work, you can find me on the golf course, enjoying a picnic in the park with my family, or taking a walk around many different trails around town. I love to travel abroad with my husband a couple times a year to escape the cold and explore new places. Fall is my favorite time of year with all the colors, bonfires, barbecues, and of course apple orchards!

I look forward to building that trust with your family and being that teacher that made a difference in your life by putting you at ease when you go to work and leave your precious child in my care.

  • Ms. Melinda Smitley, Director of Compliance

    Ms. Melinda Smitley

    Director of Compliance

Greetings! I am Melinda Smitley and I am the Director of Compliance here at The Primrose School of Chanhassen. I grew up in Westchester, CA (a suburb of Los Angeles). I attended San Diego State University, where I received my B.S. in Child and Family Development with an emphasis in Infants and Toddlers. I was a Director of a kids camp at The Santaluz Club and nannied for various elite members. After a few years, I moved back to Westchester and spent two years as a Kindergarten Assistant Teacher and eight years as the Junior Kindergarten Teacher at the same Catholic school I attended grades K-8.

Although I developed the Junior Kindergarten program and ran a successful after school enrichment program, I decided to take a leap of faith and move to Minnesota in the summer of 2018. I taught Pre-Kindergarten at The Primrose School of Chanhassen and soon became the POD Leader. I am luckily to have my skills and talents recognized to move into the Director of Compliance position in November, 2019. In my free time, I enjoy taking walks by the lakes, taking Pilates classes, going to karaoke, cooking, baking and trying new restaurants. I look forward to experiencing more of what Minnesota has to offer as I have already enjoyed living in Eden Prairie and Chanhassen and now I'm excited to explore my new home town of Waconia.

  • Mrs. Katie Wilmes, Infant and Young Toddler Teacher

    Mrs. Katie Wilmes

    Infant and Young Toddler Teacher

Hi! My name is Katie Wilmes. I live in Carver, MN with my husband and 2 children. We have a 3 year old daughter who is in the Preschool classroom and a 2 year old little boy who is in Preschool Pathways 1 and a cat that works from home. I grew up in Plymouth, MN and am one of four children. I’m pretty much a homebody and enjoy just being at home with my family. My dream was always to become a mother and raise my kids so I’m pretty much living my dream. ☺️

I hold a Bachelors in Elementary Education from Bemidji State University. Though I originally moved up to Bemidji to attend college I ended up falling in love with the people and community and ended up living there for about 10 years before moving back to the cities.

I’ve worked with kids as far back as I can remember. Pretty much since I was able to start babysitting in my neighborhood. I’ve been a babysitter, a nanny, a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) for a young girl with autism, worked at The Boys and Girls Club of the Bemidji Area for 7 years and more recently taught preschool at a childcare in Rosemount, MN. The last 2 years I’ve been a stay-at-home parent. As much as I love being home with my kids I felt it was time for them to start learning about what else the world can offer them. Full time care for them meant full time work for me and what luck to come upon Primrose of Chanhassen as their Infant/Young Toddler teacher.

I’m excited for the next chapter in my life and honored to be able to do it here at Primrose with all of you.

I have worked with children for a majority of my life and have always felt a calling to continue working to learn and grow in my education for early childhood. I love being able to work along with the kids on their fun activities and games and seeing how much they grow every day.

    Chef Laura Buckman

    Chef Laura

HI! My name is Laura Buckman and I am very excited to be the Chef at Primrose School of Chanhassen!

I graduated from Le Cordon Bleu 10 years ago with a Baking and Pastry Degree. I have been passionate about baking and cooking for as long as I can remember. My uncle owns a donut shop in Byron, MN and as a kid my idea of a fun summer break was waking up at 2 am and making donuts! I even almost burned my house down in elementary school after being inspired by the food network and attempting to fry chicken. So I believe cooking has always been in the cards for me, I just needed some training. Since graduation I have been working in scratch bakeries focusing on natural foods being a cook, baker, and a cake decorator.

Other than food my great love in life is animals. I have two dogs, a Papillon and a Pomeranian, and 2 cats. I have fostered over 15 other animals in the last year as well. If I am not in the kitchen or laying in a pile of animals, you can find me messing around in my garden, reading true crime books, or playing dinosaurs with my nephew.

I am looking forward to sharing my passion for great tasting quality foods and to help create an exciting healthy relationship with food for all the kids I have the pleasure of cooking for!

Since my studies, I have worked in various food service environments,

I joined the Primrose family in June 2021 and am honored to be a part of the team. It is a pleasure to work with such great culinary professionals, amazing teachers and leaders, and the best customers in the business- the awesome kids of Primrose!

When I'm not cooking at Primrose, I enjoy playing, writing, and recording music. I play guitar, drums, bass, keyboards, and love to sing. I also love to travel, go on road trips, and go fishing. And yes, I am constantly cooking up something delicious whether at work or at home.

I am enthusiastic to be cooking for children because food can and should be such a wonderful part of the experience of life. Cooking for people who are developing a sense of who they are is also a rewarding experience.
