Our school is making a difference in the community through our Caring and Giving Food Drive! This year, we donated 3,363 food items to Metrocrest Services, a local organization that provides food, housing assistance and resources to individuals and families in times of personal emergencies. Our students were very excited to bring in items to help those in need. Each week our Private Kindergarten class would count all the items and incorporate it in their math rotation.
As one of our annual Primrose Promise℠ Giving Events, the Caring and Giving Food Drive provides an opportunity for children to learn the joy of giving without expecting firsthand. During the month of November, we host a friendly competition between classes to encourage donations, which are then tallied by our Kindergarten students. The children love counting the donations and seeing their giving efforts come full circle!
At Primrose, we believe who children become is as important as what they know. The Caring and Giving Food Drive is just one example of how we nurture important character traits and help instill compassion and a desire to give back in children.
