Annmarie and Alan Black, along with their daughter, Caelan, are our Family of the Month for June. Alan writes, “We have been with Primrose for around 6 years now and couldn’t be happier with our choice. As the old expression goes, “It takes a village”, and frankly, that’s where we started when deciding who we wanted to take care of and guide our daughter when we were at work. Before Caelan was even born, we routinely saw recommendations for Primrose in the Coles Crossing community user group online. So when the time came that we needed childcare, there was little question. In our tour of Primrose, it was clear this was not just daycare, this was also a structured learning environment that would help Caelan to learn and grow into the amazing little seven year old girl she is today. We compared the warm classroom feel at Primrose to other “store front” and almost “institutional” childcare providers and were thrilled that an opening was available.
In the first week there, when Caelan was only 18 months old, one thing stood out to me in particular which truly illustrates both the personal and professional attitude at Primrose, and it was actually one of the simplest things. The office staff, having only seen me in person maybe twice, knew me by name and that I was Caelan’s dad. That sort of thing doesn’t come naturally to most people, and it truly blew me away. Since then there have been numerous additional examples that have solidified our high regard for the quality of not just Primrose in general, but particularly with OUR Primrose on Dundee—from a no exceptions policy regarding the safety of our children to the amazing staff that my daughter has grown to love. With each change in classes came a difficult, sometimes tearful, parting with a beloved teacher, only for her to find new fun, joy and love in the next one. And yet she rarely forgets her past teachers and never hesitates to run up for a hug when she sees one.
Caelan is now an Explorer at Primrose and as such, doesn’t spend quite as much time there as she used to, but we can rest assured that as we go back to full time care this summer, Primrose has planned lots of fun activities and field trips that will keep her eyes wide with excitement at what’s going on each and every day. We truly appreciate the opportunity to be the Primrose Family of the Month, and I doubt Georgia and her amazing staff meant this to be a chance for us to talk about how awesome they all are, but we can’t help ourselves. We couldn’t imagine not having Primrose as part of our village.”
