Jo Kirchner Named Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2022 National Finalist in the Resilience Category

This award recognizes ambitious and pioneering entrepreneurs who are changing the world.

ATLANTA (Nov. 28, 2022) – Jo Kirchner, CEO of Primrose Schools, was named an Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2022 National finalist in the resilience category. Kirchner was selected from a pool of 206 regional Entrepreneur Of The Year 2022 Award winners from 190 companies across the U.S.

Entrepreneur Of The Year was created to honor unstoppable entrepreneurs who dream up the services and products that disrupt markets and transform industries, all while improving lives. Now in its 37th year, it is celebrated as one of the most respected business award programs in the world.

“I am honored to receive this recognition on behalf of Primrose. It is a testament to the organization’s resilience to become the premier early education and care brand in America, and to our dedication to making a difference in the communities we serve,” said Jo Kirchner, CEO of Primrose Schools.

Kirchner was instrumental in the development of franchising an early education and care environment, expanding Primrose Schools from four schools to more than 475 schools across 33 states, despite the ongoing impacts of the pandemic. Kirchner also led Primrose Schools to becoming the first national preschool organization in the country to achieve gold-standard Cognia (formerly AdvancED) accreditation.

Kirchner is a leading force in building partnerships between public, private, and nonprofit organizations to drive change in early education. Through her work as a co-founder and co-chair with the Early Care and Education Consortium (ECEC), Kirchner is leading the development of transformational solutions to achieve a more equitable and sustainable early care and education system for America. In 2021, along with ECEC, Jo successfully lobbied for $55.5 billion in pandemic emergency federal funding, the largest ever in the childcare industry.

Kirchner was selected by a panel of independent judges made up of entrepreneurs from across the U.S. Each candidate was evaluated based on entrepreneurial spirit; company purpose, growth and impact; and other core contributions and attributes.

Since 1986, Entrepreneur Of The Year has celebrated entrepreneurs whose drive, innovative spirit and creativity have fueled their companies’ success, revolutionized their industries and influenced their communities. The national finalists and winners were announced during a celebration held at the Strategic Growth Forum®, one of the nation’s most prestigious gatherings of high-growth, market-leading companies.
