Count the Bones to Build Math and Motor Skills

A pile of bone shaped dog biscuits, three bowls and a pair of tweezers

Count the Bones to Build Math and Motor Skills

Little ones will “pawsitively” love this activity –it helps develop fine motor skills they will later use to write!

Supplies:

  • A pair of large, plastic tweezers
  • Several small bowls
  • Small dog bones

Instructions:

  • Set out dog bones and bowls on a table or other flat surface.
  • Ask your child to use the tweezers to place different numbers of bones in different bowls (for example, place one bone in the first bowl, two in the second and three in the third).
  • After your child completes each task, ask her to move all of the bones out of each bowl using the tweezers, then repeat step two by asking your child to place different numbers of bones in each bowl.
