A Primrose School Connects with Ghana
This year Primrose School of Sugarloaf Parkway adopted the Good Shepard Orphanage in Ghana, Africa. They kicked off this endeavor with our Celebrating Cultures Parade as the children and teachers of our school celebrated the culture of Ghana. As an entire school community we studied this nation as we prepared to change the lives of 67 orphans.
Through the help of our children, teachers, and families and our administrative assistant Kimberli Kramer, who has been with Sugarloaf Parkway since it opened, our school sent enough clothing, medical supplies, mosquito nets, school supplies and toys for each and every child in this orphanage. Ms. Kramer traveled to Ghana on January 12th as a missionary representing our school for one month. She brought all of the donations we had collected with her to share with the children.
Chattanooga Clothing Company donated a Primrose School shirt for EACH child. We had the parents make a monetary donation to send a shirt and a personal note (on Primrose stationary, of course) to the children.
With the monetary donations collected from the shirts we hired a medical team to go to the orphanage to treat the children of the many skin infections and other ailments they develop being in unsanitary conditions. I'm sure your heart will swell with pride when you see these precious children wearing their Primrose School shirts with pride! Ms. Kramer said they LOVE our school! They treasure the personal notes from our families that were delivered with their shirts.
They loved the shirts SO much that they have made our Primrose School shirts part of their CHURCH uniform each and every Sunday. The children wear them more often but especially for church and special occasions because they feel dress up in our T-shirts!
This special outreach exemplifies the spirit of the Primrose Celebrating Cultures program which teaches children about various cultures and their own heritage.
