An Astronaut Visits Primrose!
Primrose School Welcomes out-of-this-world visitor!
Two days after Space Shuttle Atlantis rocketed into outer space, the students at Primrose School of North Lewisville received an out-of-this-world visit themselves.
Allen Williams, manager for Crew Escape Equipment with United Space Alliance - a contractor to NASA at Houston's Johnson Space Center - arrived at the school to give a presentation on space travel.
Williams even brought an astronaut suit and space food with him.
Williams taught the students about the need for the advanced crew escape suit and how it protects the astronauts.
With the help of a volunteer, Williams showed the boys and girls exactly how difficult it is to get dressed in space.
The procedure of putting on the space suit left even parents and teachers amazed.
Williams also brought samples of food that astronauts take with them on their journey, with the candy-coated chocolates being the kid's favorites.
Everyone left with a appreciation for the hard work astronauts put in to explore the unknown, and the kids each left with a mission patch, a flashlight and a space shuttle flag.
By looking at the kids' faces, there is no doubt that a future astronaut was in the crowd.
