Primrose Schools® Embraces New Crib Standards
New Standards for Full-Size and Non Full-Size Cribs
At Primrose Schools, your child's safety is our top priority. All equipment used in our schools is selected based on safety, age-appropriateness and educational value. Our leadership team maintains active involvement with the Consumer Product Safety Commission to report defective children's products and remove any product that may affect our schools through recalls.
In December 2010 the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) adopted new safety standards for all full-size and non full-size cribs. The new standards include:
- Rigorous safety testing by a third party, with all cribs in compliance receiving a Certificate of Compliance
- Addition of a mattress support system.
- Addition of stronger and more durable hardware.
- Prohibiting the manufacture of drop-side cribs.
All of these safety standards are to reduce the number of crib related injuries. The CPSC has mandated a compliance date of December 2012 for child care centers to be in complete compliance. It is our intention to be fully compliant by December 2012. For more information relating to the new crib standards, please visit
