The Primrose Environment
Enjoyment and Learning for Your Child. Peace of Mind for You.
The Comforts of Home
You and your child will love the friendliness and warmth of our schools. Individual classrooms for each age group are well-equipped and engagingly decorated to create a safe, fun, nurturing atmosphere that stimulates learning, exploration, and play. Our low student-to-teacher ratios ensure that each child receives personal attention and loving care. Regularly scheduled special events keep parents involved in their children’s daily routines and special activities. Each school's kitchen provides well-balanced nutritional meals and snacks. Additional late-afternoon snacks are provided for children under three.
Safety First: Our Most Important Role
While your child is busy learning, playing, singing, painting and growing, you can take comfort in our commitment to providing a safe environment every day.
Primrose Schools has developed and implemented the highest standards of safety and security, guided by our rigorous Health and Safety policies and procedures that are reviewed and updated regularly to ensure the most up-to-date methods are implemented. Here are the many ways we protect your child:
Our Health Practices
Cleanliness: In every age group, teachers follow strict standards to maintain a sanitary environment. These include regularly washing hands, toys, cribs, mattresses, sheets, blankets and equipment.
Food Handling: Our Health and Safety policies include detailed procedures for preparing, handling, and storing food. Safe bottle warming, accepting only unopened food items, and using only plastic bottles and dishes enhance classroom safety. Glass containers are not allowed in our building.
Restroom Safety: Our Stop and Go System has been designed to assist children and staff in restroom safety. It is an effective way to monitor restroom use and to teach children the rules of privacy. No child under four years of age is permitted to use the restroom without proper adult supervision.
Shoes: All walking children are required to wear close-toed shoes with rubber soles to help prevent slips and falls.
Other Healthy Practices:
- Frequent hydration before, during, and after outdoor play
- Limited or cancelled outdoor play when air quality is poor
- Restrictions on hazardous items in the classrooms: beanbag chairs, infant walkers, jump ropes, etc.
- Exposure to live plants limited to developmentally appropriate science activities
- Information related to specific child allergies recorded in the school’s database
and posted in child’s classroom
Controlled Access to Our Schools
Single-Entry Security System: A member of the school’s management team is always at the reception area to greet parents and authorized visitors who request entry into the building.
Front Door Code System: The front doors of each school are locked at all times and may only be accessed by entering a code.
Daily Sign-In: Each child is signed in and out at the front desk every day and is released only to those individuals parents have authorized in writing on the enrollment application.
Emergency Preparedness and Response
Medical and Emergency Training: Every staff member is trained in CPR, First Aid, Fire Safety and Universal Precautions. Emergency procedure drills (fire and tornado drills) are held monthly for staff and children.
Emergency Assistance: Emergency numbers are posted by each telephone in the school. Transportation vehicles are equipped with cellular phones for emergency use.
Parent Notification: All schools maintain an Emergency Transportation database that contains contact information and a picture of each child. A management team member carries a print version of this information during all emergency drills.
Playing It Safe: Your Child and the Primrose Playground
Fun Exploration with an Emphasis on Safety: Your little one might not think about it, but rest assured, your child’s teachers are always thinking safety first. While your child is happy climbing, sliding, and exploring, the teachers never stop working to ensure your child’s safety on our playgrounds.
Primrose Schools’ playgrounds are built with state-of-the-art equipment designed for age-appropriate physical development. Playgrounds are separated by age groups using equipment specific to each developmental stage. Our playgrounds are inspected daily by staff, monthly by management team members, and are certified yearly to meet and exceed national standards.
Maintenance Standards: All Primrose Schools playgrounds are fenced and meet the U.S. Consumer Safety Commission Guidelines.
Daily Inspections: Our staff inspects the playground daily for sticks, broken toys, loose fencing, unlocked gates and other potential problems
Monthly Inspection and Maintenance: To ensure the optimum safety of our equipment and to minimize potential safety hazards on the grounds, we conduct a thorough monthly inspection by following a rigorous 36-step inspection checklist.
Annual Certified Playground Safety Inspections: Once a year, our playgrounds are
inspected by a certified playground safety inspector, and a report is kept on file at
the school. This certified inspection is one of the many health and safety requirements
of our exclusive Standard of Excellence Accreditation.
