As new leaders head to Washington, Primrose is setting the agenda for early childhood literacy and recently celebrated its 200th school opening with ‘200 Wishes for America’s Children,’ a nationwide initiative to send voice-recorded wishes from Primrose children across the country to our nation’s newly elected officials.
As part of our initiative, we engaged thousands of Primrose children to record messages about what they wish for all of America’s children in a VoiceQuilt™ keepsake. Wishes from the children were packaged and sent to President-Elect Barack Obama, the new Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, as well as to the governors of the 16 states that Primrose Schools calls home.
You can watch highlights of voice message wishes left by Primrose children from across the country, listen to a sampling of the voice message wishes, and even send the highlight video to a friend by visiting our Listen to Wishes page.
We also marked our 200th school franchise growth milestone with a $200,000 donation to our partner, Reach Out and Read, a nationwide nonprofit that seeks to make literacy promotion a standard part of pediatric primary care.
The money, raised throughout the year by our students, staff, and families at fundraising events nationwide, translates to more than 82,000 books given back to local pediatric offices across the country.
